After reading all the great reviews I found this disappointing, and wouldn't return. The positives first. The food was plentiful. We ordered chimichangas and 1 side of pinto beans and we couldn't finish our food. I'm still stuffed. The place is big and was clean, the bathrooms also very clean. Some of the food was tasty, the pinto beans, more of a pinto bean soup, was excellent. Our waitress was nice. There were many negatives. We walked in and received 2 different menus. The waitress told us, when asked, that they were the same. They were not and had some same items, different prices. Our bill didn't reflect the prices we saw on the menu and maybe they expect that you shouldn't care about the prices. The bill had a total price but also a lower cash price. Most of it was not itemized and we have no idea if the outrageous tax added on was a tax plus a credit card fee or just that the tax there is extremely high. On a $31 bill there was $3.72 added on in tax to just the one higher total. We had also asked for separate checks and didn't get this. Luckily we got the same items and just paid cash and split it. I've been to many Mexican restaurants, don't speak spanish, but many items on the menu are just not explained in English. I like only ground beef options, there are none, but there is birrea. It's shredded beef , we were told when asked, and I didn't care for it in the chimichanga. Too dry, not enough flavor or sauce. The dish was described as coming with a side salad, but that was just a little lettuce on top of the chimichanga. As we were leaving we did see a cart that seemed to have some salsa other diners were going to, but we were never told about this. The basket of chips that came out to start the meal was small but the amount of salsa was even smaller, way too small for 2 people. It was mediocre. In the end, some of the food was delicious, but if you care about knowing the cost of your meal in advance or even understanding what you are being served, forget it. I...
Read moreOMG THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT I’ve eaten at in a long time! It’s not just your regular Mexican restaurant. They have Mexican street food. Everything is fresh and most is homemade.
The “combinacion los tree grandes” platter was OMG AMAZING. It’s not what you think. It’s three handheld Mexican foods — a birria taco, a sope and a Gordita. Or order any of those by themselves. The birria taco was the best we’ve had.
Or try the cheese pupusa or the tamale (with choice of 3 different sauces).
They have a condiment bar with 6 different sauces you can try. The mild avocado sauce was our favorite. Don’t eat the spicy sauces by themselves! They’re quite hot.
Many of the menu items come with your choice from 9 different meats. The meats were grilly, moist and tender, not like the rubbery “steak” most places serve. The chorizo sausage was better than most places.
The chips were warm and the salsa cold and fresh tasting, on our table within a minute of entering.
The dessert churros weren’t bad but weren’t special or homemade. The churros were more like long apple-filled donuts, dense and doughy, not the light...
Read moreEXCELLENT! First time here. We are from Maryland. The hostess, courteous, kind, extremely helpful when asked their recommendations for lunch. I don't remember my wife's choice, I asked the chorizo with eggs, apparently a breakfast choice, which I would happily have changed. No problem!, from the establishment. We also ordered the Caso(cheese sauce, spelling)with chips. My wife said the best Caso anywhere ever! I asked for hot sauce, then I was made to understand, they have a salsa, hot sauce bar, with all kinds of salsa and hot sauces on a table. I have never seen this before, wonderful! All the locals eat here, from my observations, at this establishment. The food costs are more then fair. My only ask would to be treat these kindly people, who serve excellent food, and large portions, with appreciation to their service, as they have treated you, with...
