I’ve given this place several chances, but today was the final straw. I called to order takeout and was met with rudeness right off the bat. When I asked about sashimi and mentioned that on a previous order the pieces were tiny, the man on the phone got defensive and actually said, “Well, why are you ordering from here then?” Not exactly how you treat paying customers.

He claimed he was the owner (which I highly doubt, considering he didn’t even know his own menu prices) and even tried to overcharge me. On top of that, every single time I’ve ordered here, the rolls I received didn’t match the ingredients listed on the menu. When I pulled up the menu linked to their own website, he dismissed it and acted like I was wasting his time because I didn’t have the “right” menu in front of me.

And here’s the kicker: three out of the four times we’ve tried to order from them, they’ve told us they’re closing an hour early because they “ran out of rice.” What kind of sushi restaurant can’t manage to keep rice on hand?

Between the bad service, wrong orders, questionable pricing, attitude, and now the rice fiascos, this place has gone downhill fast. Save yourself the headache and go to Yanagi in Paso instead — fresh food, friendly service, and...

EDIT 11/18/16: Toshi's recently went through a small-scale renovation which is nothing more than what appears to be fresh paint and new pictures on the walls. Not only has the menu had nearly half of its items removed, but every single entree has been risen at least a dollar, with some rolls getting a $2+ increase. (We have a copy of their old take-out menu at home, and double-checked things to make sure that it wasn't just us.) I'm sorry but I am not paying $16.95 for one roll of sushi. We also noticed that their spicy tuna roll which used to be filled with spicy tuna, drizzled with special sauce and topped with roe, is now spicy tuna with cucumber and no additional toppings. Cutbacks, price increases, and lesser quality... I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Original post: Hands-down the best sushi place around with incredibly friendly staff. My boyfriend and I are both sushi fanatics, and have tried many different places.Toshi's has the best quality and variety along with VERY reasonable prices. (There's not one bad roll in the bunch.) If you're look for fresh, affordable, good quality sushi, this is the...

We came from out of town and were in the area for dinner. Figured we give this restaurant a try. Our group ordered three bentos (grilled salmon, teriyaki chicken, and Korean fried chicken) and I had the chirashi bowl along with an order of the gourmet dinner (5 piece nigiri, 12 piece sashimi) to share. All bentos were highly rated in our group. The chirashi bowl was very appetizing and the gourmet dinner was decent. The nigiri can be improved as the rice wasn’t able to keep its form and fell apart. Aside from this, the quality of the sashimi was surprisingly good. Service was okay. Our waiter forgot about our water despite the restaurant being slow. Waiters are relatively young so I’m assuming they’re a bit inexperienced, maybe, but our waiter acknowledged this error and was apologetic. Not a deal breaker by any means. Definitely appreciated our waiter taking accountability. He gets a plus for accommodating our request for extra wasabi, extra ginger, and teriyaki sauce on the side. Overall, chill environment and good food. We’d definitely stop by again...

I ordered the Kriss roll and the Albacore Tataka roll. Both were very, very good but I’m going to say the Kriss roll was better in my opinion. I did not take a photo because I was starving and got it to go, then devoured it. I will definitely be returning! If you’re in the area, stop by and grab a bite Just stopped by again for lunch. First time dining in and it did not disappoint. Staff is incredibly friendly and totally understanding of my 6 month olds loud garbled cries(we were the only ones left from the lunch crowd when he started acting up, thank god). I have found the Kriss to be my staple here and added a kiss of fire this time as well (top roll). Update*** This place is my number one sushi spot in the county. I bring my kids here often and have often met with friends here for sushi dates. Love this place! Service is top notch and is always decently quick, even when they are busy. I try to update my reviews as I visit but haven’t here. Either way, 5 stars all the way!

I love Toshi. I cannot believe it has taken me so long to go here. I truly have been missing out. The chef is always happy to greet us and makes sure we always have a wonderful experience. The sushi is always fresh and always delicious and paired with a few rounds of hot sake, exquisite. Toshi also offers sushi at an affordable price. I usually get the roll with crab and salmon, I forgot what it’s called but it has crab on the inside and outside with salmon on the outside as well—so good, and the roll is hearty. They also over fresh wasabi here!! I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you like wasabi. Next time I come here I will try to get something with noodles or some other dish besides sushi because I am sure it will be delicious. Thank you to the owners and staff at Toshi, I always leave here with a smile and tummy full of sushi, makes me happy.

I called them up on my lunch 10 minutes before arrival asking for a Golden Cali +albacore, and two salmon rolls. $35 bucks. Are you kidding? Okay…how about three salmon rolls then? $8 bucks each almost $30. So, a buck per individual piece. I figured they must be real good then. I ended up waiting another 20 minutes after I got there, lunchtime, but the restaurant wasn’t even full. So, $30 bucks shorter, and 30 minutes later for three basic salmon rolls this is what I end up with (img). To add, the rolls were encased in two paper boats held together by a rubber band. On top of that, the rice was so bad, it tasted like when you buy these at Vons/Safeway and they’ve been in cold storage all day. I genuinely have no clue how this place has such high reviews. I regret spending my money here, and would urge others to not spend their own.
