I went to jittery joes to study because I was having a really hard week and wanted to study at a calm coffee shop environment to get in a good headspace. I had planned on getting food in around an hour because I take medicine that requires me to stay on an empty stomach for 90 minutes. As I was studying, I noticed that I kept getting glared at by an employee. A few minutes later, that same employee came up to me and gave me extreme attitude saying "do you not know how a coffee shop works? There are so many people that could be sitting in this seat and you wont even order anything." There was much more to the conversation, but it was extremely rude and caused a scene in front of so many other college students. In fact, multiple other college students approached me and said that they were so sorry that she treated me this way. If there was an issue, someone could have kindly approached me and I would have bought a water. All of this to say, you never know the kind of day/week that someone is having - treat them with kindness and respect. Especially at Jittery Joes, a locally respected place, filled with college students who have so much going on. I went to jittery joes to make my hard week a little bit better, and ultimately walked out (or basically got told to leave) feeling so much worse. This also sucks because I was a frequent customer to jittery joes and loved it here. This employee ultimately has...
Read moreIt's a tad on the expensive side, especially since it seems to primarily serve college students. Of course it also seems to employ primarily college students, so that's good. It has a few nice original drink options. And quality classics. They do what they can to provide places to plug in, even if it's just an extension cord or power strip. They close rather early (8pm) but are open about the fact that their wifi reaches outside, which is public property. Wifi isn't great for video calls, but it's sufficient. This has been a quiet, study environment for years. No more comfortable spots like they had when they were on the corner, but sufficient seating. Good service and some other expensive local options as well as more commercial drink options. Merchandise sold and for each menu item, you get a punch out in your card (if you ask for a card), and after the tenth, you can choose a free menu drink. (Drinks from the fridge not included). Parking is a bit limited during the day, but after 6pm, there's...
Read moreTHE Five Points location started as a very unique location when it occupied the corner service station that is now occupied by a dorky yogurt joint. It its new location, at the end of a reconditioned 1960s strip mall, the corporation saw the opportunity to create a nice outdoor patio. This space is poorly maintained and has degraded to the point of complete embarrassment. I prefer to enjoy my coffee outdoors each morning and recently came to the conclusion that the patio is not an inviting place. I cannot justify its use any longer. If the new mega corporation of Jittery Joe's cannot properly manage its properties then I will enjoy the coffee regularly brewed by the competitor located across the street. They have a nice shady tree canopy over their back deck. Very attractive. Wake up ya bums....take care of your...
