Steak n’ Shake, local grilles and diners attempt to replicate the traditional American Smash Burger, but all they produce are mere shadows of what a true American burger is. Baddies Burgers, however, produces a burger that goes beyond capturing the culture and history of the classic American Smash Burger and perfects its flavors – a buttery brioche bun, saucy Baddie’s sauce, buttery pickles, sautéed onions, all surrounding a thin patty with crispy edges and a warm juicy center. One could argue that the Baddies burger is such a wonderful perfection of the American Smash Burger that, if in New York, it would put George Motz’s Hamburger America out of business. As a current medical student and newly married husband, my wife and I live on a tight budget. With prices comparable to fast food restaurants such as McDonalds and Burger King, and cheaper than Subway, Firehouse, and Chick-Fil-A, Baddies is a go to date night spot where we can relax knowing the food we order will be affordable, delivered to us quickly by a kind and empathetic team, and reliably delicious and filling. Beyond a perfected version of the American Smash Burger, Baddies offers crispy traditional fries (Cajun or regular – we love the Cajun ones) and a variety of styles of thick and creamy Banana puddings - classic southern style (which reminds of my late Memaw’s), death by chocolate (one of my wife’s favorites), Reeses', birthday cake, and a rotating flavor of the month. I reeeeally want to give Baddie’s 5 stars. I really do. And my first visit was a 5-star experience, but the 3-4 visits since have each left me slightly disappointed, each for different reasons. The taste of their food is 5 stars for sure, but let me explain the 3-star review.

Tonight, nothing that came out of the fountain drink machine was right. The mixture of syrup to carbonation was off or the syrups were switched up all together or something, but unfortunately the person working the counter didn’t know how to remedy the situation so we got to drink flat coke instead. The sign pictured below was placed after we inquired about the drinks. The person at the counter could be heard apologizing for the drink machine but no discounts etc were offered for combo meals that would now exclude a drinkable drink. I also ordered the loaded fries and was told after the food came out that they don’t have forks to eat them with… only spoons. Last time when I ordered a burger combo, the serving of fries was about half the size of my previous visits. The time before that, I waited nearly 40 minutes from ordering until I got my food. I get that food is made to order, but 40 minutes?

Finally, the girl working the counter was busting her tail, running around doing 100 things all at once so major credit to her. Please give her a raise.

Again, the food is so tasty and I love supporting small businesses. I’m hoping my next visit will be 5 stars again, because I will keep giving...
