Mooney's — Restaurant in Athens

First time going to Mooney's, as a mac and cheese lover I elected to go here for my birthday. We had a party of 8, my mother brother and boyfriend arrived about 20 minutes early to give Mooney's enough time to prepare for a larger party. To start off the night, I placed a drink order from the bar (double shot of rum neat can't get simpler than that) and it comes out as a double shot in coke. The initial waitress was very kind and promptly fixed the error. The real issues started when our initial waitress traded off to a different one. She explained that we were not in her area and she had to hand us off. The new waitress was incredibly rude and consistently made errors. I ordered original mac and cheese and asked to not have it baked and no panko, I got baked mac and cheese with a cold layer of crispy cheese crust almost TWO HOURS after ordering. About an hour and a half into the night, we were still waiting for our food. It had gotten to the point of us standing up and getting ready to walk out, only then did the waitress come back to ask for refills. She asked my boyfriend if he would like another water because his Mtn Dew was that watered down from the ice melting. After waiting two hours and watching people be seated after us, eat and leave before us, our food finally arrived. The portion sizes were huge, but that was about the only good thing. Family received burnt food and missing half their order. A burger looked like a hockey puck on a bun and we had to ask 5 times for mayo. The waitress then argued with my uncle that his order didn't come with Cole slaw until we validated with a menu. He also did not receive his side order of mac and cheese and was met with the comment, "well there's one up there I guess I can grab it for you." The waitress also shook her head, rolled her eyes, and swore under her breath any time she we had a request for a refill or asking for food we ordered and didn't receive. I also ordered a chocolate martini which was mostly cold milk foam with chocolate syrup and a splash of alcohol for $8. As a slap in the face, they added a nonnegotiable $40 tip to our bill so our waitress that treated us like an inconvenience made off well for ignoring us. I don't think I'll be returning here.

TLDR: Rude waitress, pricey cold/burnt food, watered down alcohol, excessively long wait times, and incorrect orders. Don't waste...

I've been here twice and the food is always great, I'll never say otherwise. However my first visit we had a waitress who messed up our credit cards after we wrapped our checks around our debit cards (three separate bills). These checks were not split properly, but we didn't want to make a fuss, she was a young girl probably still in highschool. The big issue came later when she brought our checks back and (which as I stated, were wrapped and separated with the correct cards) and she used the wrong cards for the wrong bills. I understand people make mistakes, and I'm not trying to be unreasonable. Second trip: As we my family and I stood in the small entry way waiting to be seated, another young girl (Hailey? Allie? She had straight brown hair with highlights) to another young girl behind a handful of menus staring at us whispering and giggling before taking us back a few seconds later... how unprofessional. I don't think is a reflection on Mooney's, but I thought it...

Will never go back. Ordered a cheese steak, with sauteed onions and green peppers and the bun toasted. Picked it up, opened it when we were home, and it had lettuce and tomato on it. Called them, took it back, got a new one.

My wife picked it up, and what did we get, steak on a cold bun, not toasted. One piece of small cheese, not even melted. More mayonnaise and there was meat. The green peppers were cold, crunchy and not sauteed, and I found only one small piece of an onion on mine.

Whoever made this needs to be fired, and they need to learn how to how to make a cheese steak.

It's ridiculous when you take an order back and they still screw up the second one and the place was dead tonight so there's no excuse that they were overwhelmed. Just plain lazy and lack of customer care.

I only ate it because I was hungry and we didn't want to go back out...
