Did a pre-visit to this place (Abernathy location) on a Friday because I had company visiting the next day and I wanted to take them to a Saturday morning brunch and I thought this would be nice since it was near my home and has high ratings. Very glad I checked this place out before bringing several guests with me. Since it was close to closing time when we got there, I placed a to go order for the mac & cheese, 3 fried wings, collard greens and cornbread (ie Keep thar Same Ole Feeling) meal. My child had the French toast, eggs and bacon meal (Never to Much). The mac & cheese, chicken wings, and cornbread were cooked to pure perfection! Finger licking goooood! However, the collards were bland and below average at best, I’ve tasted can collards that were better. The French toast was indeed pretty eye catching, but there wasn’t any flavor in the French toast itself. Tasted like regular eggs cooked on bread. I didn’t taste any flavoring like cinnamon, vanilla, etc. The bacon tasted rancid. We love bacon but the bacon here just had a very disgusting taste so we threw it away. The biggest turn off was the 20% auto tip for carry out (see receipt pic here) We ordered carry out instead of dining inside the restaurant because it was about to close so I didn’t want to pay a tip for winding down service so I ordered to go to avoid this, but I was charged a mandatory 20% tip anyway. Never in my life have I paid a 20% tip for carry out that I picked up myself and this is the main reason I will never go there again. Felt ripped off for that being added to my “carry out” bill. Also, this place is very very tiny compared to the Augie’s breakfast bar cafe. It’s like a hole in the wall type of joint. When I walked in, I immediately knew I wasn’t going to bring my party of 7 there for brunch because the seating (if we ever got seating since I was told there is a long wait on Saturdays during the time we planned to come and they don’t take reservations ) would be very tight and uncomfortable and COVID is still real to be packed up like sardines in that tiny space. This place is so small that the open back area is used for the restaurant’s supply space which you have to walk through before going to restroom. This place is just too small to accommodate a party larger than 2-3 people during peak times. Please don’t be fooled by the pics you see online because the pics of the bigger space is more than likely their other location off moreland ave. Also, parking was not good at all. It wasn’t even crowded when me and my kid went over there, and parking was still a challenge because there isn’t hardly any parking to begin with. If you want better service, ample parking, a bigger space to accommodate a party of 3 or more during peak hours, i would suggest you go to the Caroline street location of Augies. It was hands down much better than the Abernathy location. Much better...

I walked into the cafe and it seemed to be packed plus several people were waiting in line. As I waited, a couple got up from their seats and walked out and then a waitress walked up with their food. Both orders looked good so I said id purchase one if I could get a discount. No one said that I would not be getting a discount and then a second server named Issa came up and rang up my order in which I added a bacon and egg sandwich and a water. The order came up to $34.81and I paid with my debit card and tipped her $5 cash. I waited for about 20 minutes and then the first waitress came back to the register and I asked if I could get my receipt and the water. She attempted to print my receipt, but then said she could not because it was rung up under Issa’s name. Issa finally came back and I again asked for water and for my receipt. Issa said she was waiting to give me the water when she brought my food which made no sense. When I asked for the water again she said she would go get it. About 20 minutes later a third server came to check on me and I said I had already ordered but still needed a water. She implied that she would get me the water. Issa returned to say my food was ready so I asked for a copy of my receipt. She said that it would be hard to find my receipt in the register when only 2 people had come in and ordered after me. I later realized that she probably did not want me to see that she had charged me FULL PRICE for both items plus 20% gratuity which is apparently their policy but she neglected to mention that to me when I handed her the $5. Issa finally handed me my food and printed out the receipt and handed it to me and left without me getting any water. I waited for about 10 more minutes and finally walked over to the bar and asked the servers who were all congregated at the bar to “please please please” give me a water. After Issa handed me the water the third server apologized and said they were really busy. I left with my food and the water and when I got home, I looked at the receipt and discovered that I did not receive any discount and was charged gratuity on top of the fact that I gave cash gratuity. Besides the fact that I was treated abominably while just asking for a water, the fact that I did not get a discount after waiting basically an hour for a bacon and egg sandwich to be made it’s unfathomable that you repeat customers despite the fact that the food was really good. I guess I can go to another location in the future. Update: I sent an email and was informed that they would look into my situation and they offered to give me a discount on the already prepared food that I...

First time eating here today and let me tell you something.... this was THE best breakfast spot I have ever had! I live close by, maybe a 2 minute walk from Augies and I've always wanted to try them. Plus I'm 8 months pregnant and needed the exercise, so I walked to order my food to go. Baby, the server was nice and everything looked so clean inside. I ordered salmon over grits, French toast with bacon and eggs, pancake with bacon and eggs, extra side of pancakes and grits, and two sides of wings. Total was around $80 for the food plus their %20 gratuity so total was around $100+. Yes, there's a gratuity even if it's to-go. Honestly, the food was so good that I didn't even care. After I ordered, I walked back home and my husband picked the food up. Lol. It was hot today. So let's get to it...

Salmon w/ grits- Usually I hate ordering salmon b/c it's always dry from restaurants but baby no, not here. That salmon is seasoned to perfection and the grits underneath was so creamy and delicious. The sauce is just the cherry on top. Sidenote: squeeze that lemon on each bite, you'll thank me later.

Pancakes- Big and fluffy! Super soft and the strawberries and blueberries are the perfect combination for these fluffy Pancakes. It comes with the powdered sugar on top, but you can get it without it, however it really makes these Pancakes stand out from any other.

French toast- These were for my 7 year old daughter and she loved them!!!! I couldn't tell you how they taste because when I wanted to try, they were gone. Lol. I did try her bacon and eggs and they were delicious!

Wings- All I can say is crispy, tender, and seasoned to the gawds! Baby, when I tell you these wings w/ Pancakes with syrup drizzled on top was the bite of my life.

Everything was more than delicious! There was nothing to complain about honestly, not even the gratuity. Being 8 months pregnant, I have the worst heartburn but after eating here at Augie's Cafe, I had zero, I mean ZERO heartburn! Which tells me their food is fresh and non-greasy. Beware, this food will put you down lol. We ate at 12:30-1pm, took a nap afterwards, and it's 9pm and we still laying down with extra food leftover. No cooking dinner tonight, thanks Augie's!

Next time, I'll definitely...

So I was excited to come here because of all the great reviews. It was my friends birthday so I wanted to treat her to some brunch. The food was good I ordered a waffle n strawberries with a side a bacon, but it did not fill me up. Anyway server offered us Mimosa but said it wasn’t on the menu. So we said sure we’ll take two. First off when I asked for the check he didn’t bring me a receipt. He just came over and said the total is $64. So I was a little taken back by that like where is the check but I didn’t want to be rude so I just gave him my card. I had to ASK for a receipt he wasn’t about to give me one. WEIRD. So I saw he rang the mimosas under 2 Lemonades which was $9.00 and then it just says M for $11.00. Again, weird. Then when I asked him to explain he said it wasn’t on the menu so he priced it under that, but it tasted funny anyway like it was orange juice and club soda no lie and it was in a big To Go cup. Seemed like a scam to me. When I asked the server caught an attitude I’m like where are these prices coming from. I DID NOT mind gratuity which was only $9. Mhm I won’t be returning because I was not pleased with the service on top of me still leaving hungry. The food was tasty yes but everything matters when I’m spending my money. I hate to have to leave this review but I will leave a picture of my receipt and my food so you all can see for yourselves.
