Down in a valley and around a bend in the woods you will find an opening and come to Cross Creek, the best non country club, country club in Atlanta. A community which features condominiums, tennis courts, a nice 3 par executive golf course and the quaint Cross Creek Cafe. Affectionately known as "Divorce Creek", by the denizens and barflies, Cross Creek Cafe offers patrons a casual and comfortable setting for lunch and dinner as well as brunch on Sundays. The cafe is comprised of the main dining room, the covered outdoor dining deck and the bar where you may also dine. Dining from the deck or the bar affords you bucolic views of the lake, golf course and a stunning sunset in the evening. The bar contains the obligatory panorama view of flat screens each representing a delegate in the wide world of sports. As with most pubs/cafe's there is no smoking indoors even at the bar, but you may smoke on the side deck adjacent to the bar. The menu features a full variety of cuisine from seafood, steaks, veal, pasta dishes, salads, wings, burgers, sides, and a few desserts, there are also daily specials. I can genuinely state that the food is very good, consistent and properly prepared even with the occasional (forgivable) misstep. The dining room service is prompt and pleasant, while the bar service is adequate yet can be sparse if the bar is packed, as there is usually only one bartender. Nevertheless, you should remain calm, polite and patience for your libation, no matter how parched, lest ye suffer the wrath of rudeness by the gruff but lovable Kathleen. Please note that the cafe is closed on Mondays but open from 11am until 10pm Tuesday through Sunday, and parking is free but it can be tricky, depending on...
Read moreThis place is just awful. I have been invited here a few times over the years by my wife's extended family - and I finally have her buy-in to decline all future invitations. Of the 7 people at our table, only 1 person finished. The other 6 found their food un-finishable. At this particular meal - the potato skins were too crispy and literally dripping with grease, pancakes were borderline inedible, and everything else was just so-so Sysco food. The service from our waitress was mediocre - from her counting the seated guests aloud and taking my wife's water glass and giving it to someone else and saying "see 6 people, 6 waters" (remember how I said there were 7 people at our table?), to having to fetch my own refill from a nearby pitcher because I was tired of waiting. Oh, and forget about her knowing who ordered what.
The icing on the cake (not that I would ever waste money on cake here) occurred 35 minutes after we ordered our food. A man wearing shorts and a visor comes out and asks who ordered an omelette, giving it to my wife when she raised her hand. About two minutes later, and after she started eating the potatoes, he comes back and says "This isn't for you" and takes the plate away. I'm pretty sure another diner got to finish that meal not knowing what had happened. Oh yea, and it took another 15 minutes after that for our actual food to arrive.
Previous visits included a buffet of inedible everything and pot roast slopped on a hoagie that they have the audacity to call...
Read moreHonestly, I hate to leave bad reviews, but today really took the cake. I'm used to seeing smaller portions on menu items, but that's across the board everywhere. Today, when I got my bill, it was way higher than normal. Turns out they have raised their drink prices $3 now a vodka tonic is $10. With no warning or "Hey, we've raised the drink prices, just so you know". That's wild ass behavior. This is not some upscale Buckhead restaurant. It's not even close. Sad to say, I've had my last lunch at Cross Creek today. I really did like that place, but raising the prices like that and not even telling your regular patrons is some...
