I don’t know if I’m ready to tell the world about this place yet…it is such a little gem a little off the beaten path, so maybe that is why you haven’t been there yet. If you haven’t, this is the sign to go check it out today!!!
I’m not sure what is the best. The coffee drinks are great, the service is always top notch. Their food is really my fav. The crepes are so tasty, my family and I have had several and all are good. My 9 y/o favors the straight Nutella. The bread is made in house…I think everything is made in house.
The decor is soothing and there is a play area for kids and people can gather there…I bet if your group needed a place to meet this could definitely meet your needs.
Okay, the downsides. You gotta be careful if you use the drive through…like, you know, you gotta have your eyes open and you need to be paying attention. Nothing major, but it’s a bit of a turn at the end…and if you are long, you should maybe just park and walk in. Also, my fav Kelly isn’t always there when I go and I wonder if perhaps the other employees wish I just saved my big energy for my double punch Tuesday WHO-HOO just for her.
JUST KIDDING!!!!! They are all cool and totally rock at everything they do!!
You should also try the French toast sticks. You dip it in the whipped honey stuff…I can’t really explain…you should just try it...
Read moreWhat?! This was a Post Office?? Yep, Iron Grind 's building was originally built as the U.S. Post Office for Auburn, Michigan, ZIP Code 48611. Now, it's a pretty good place to sit down, enjoy a cappuccino, and write a letter to a friend. The shop draws it's name and inspiration from Proverbs 27:17, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." For centuries, friends have met over a cup of coffee to share thoughts and sharpen each other's wits. That tradition thrives at Iron Grind, enhanced by the chance to enjoy a crepe or a scone, rare treats to find in a small Midwestern town. On a hot summer day, head straight for the ice cream counter and sample a scoop of unique, Michigan-themed deliciousness from Midland's Great Lakes Ice Cream Company. Iron Grind's proprietress traces her roots from the Bay City family that ran the Stevens Creamery for generations. So, you can rest assured that ice cream in her shop will be top notch. You're reading this in Google Maps, so you should be able to find your way there. Any time between 7 AM and 7 PM, Monday through Saturday, would be a great time to check out Iron Grind. Go ahead. Read moreWhat started as a random pick along our route to Traverse City has officially become a must-stop every time we head up north. Iron Grind Coffee House in Auburn completely exceeded expectations.
We expected a quick coffee and maybe a pastry—what we got was a full food and drink menu with serious attention to quality. I ordered the Farmers Crepe with eggs, bacon, sausage, and cheese, and it was one of the most satisfying breakfasts I’ve had from a coffee shop. Rachel ordered the French Toast Sticks, and we literally gasped watching them prepare it. They used a huge, thick slice of brioche—over an inch thick—dipped and grilled fresh. No frozen shortcuts here, just real effort and generous portions.
I also tried the Cherry Bomb drink (green tea + lemonade + cherry syrup), which was light, refreshing, and perfect for the road.
Tremendous food, great drink options, and a cozy vibe—Iron Grind is now a permanent part of our northern...
