La's Midway Saloon — Restaurant in Auburndale

We are from Orlando, but stopped by today (30 DEC 2023) around 1300 hrs on a Polk County Dive Bar Crawl (that my wife and I invented like an hour before getting there) after paying for our new puppy in Mulberry, and we were fortunate enough to meet Jamie & Amanda The Cake Queen and some locals.

This place is so much fun... Honestly, it's like an inverted Tardis, in that it is HUGE on the outside, but not as big on the inside - that being said it is a trip that is totally worth anybody's time that is out looking for mayhem and misadventure in Polk County.

(Side note: Have fun, but be responsible. We all know that Grady Judd and his boys are highly effective at what they do, so should you overindulge, please do the right thing and find alternate transport to your sleeping arrangements.)

Jamie makes badass Bloodies (try her Bloody Mary's - just make sure she keeps the cap on the spices) and then have a Doctoral level discussion on pickles with her, because you won't be disappointed. Spoiler alert: The pickles are dope.

The bar is well stocked, and the place is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. This is obviously an establishment owned by a team that takes pride in their establishment, and that pride is reinforced by the team on the other side of the bar. It's a bummer that it is an hour from us, because this would be THE place we'd go to to booze it up.

Popular local bar with venues for live music that include a patio and "Barn" for larger Acts. Daily drink specials and happy hour for the locals Place gets pretty hopping on the weekends. Genres include local bands and Regional favorites with a country rock flare. Newly remodeled main bar with kitchen for daily food specials quite popular in the area. This is one of the area's most popular bars. Definitely gives you the feel of a Roadhouse of days gone by. Truly an interesting place. If you are a fan of polk County's most popular bands you will definitely see them here as music is provided several nights a week check their Facebook site or web page for calendar upcoming events and bands. There are regular events and promotions of all types practically on a weekly basis one thing you can say for sure about this place is it's Lively and you never know what you might find here. Moderate drink beer and wine prices daily food specials and of course daily surprises. The crowd may look a little rough around the edges but this is a safe and fun place as no belligerence or Rowdy behavior is tolerated by customers or staff. Everyone is welcome. I stopped by LA’s Midway Saloon on Christmas Eve, needing a quick escape from the family chaos and a good, stiff drink—and let me tell you, mission accomplished! As soon as I walked in, I was drawn to the barn where karaoke was in full swing. The host was top-notch, creating an atmosphere that was both lively and welcoming.

I grabbed a whiskey from two of the nicest bartenders I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in a long time. Even though it was my first visit, the staff and regulars treated me like I’d been coming for years. Within minutes, I went from being in a sour mood to laughing my ass off and genuinely enjoying myself.

As someone who’s worked in the bar and restaurant industry as a manager, I was incredibly impressed with the service. The bartenders were attentive, kept my drinks topped off, and always had a smile on their faces—even as the night went on. I never felt rushed or out of place, which is rare, especially on a busy night.

This was my first visit, but it definitely won’t be my last. LA’s Midway Saloon knows how to deliver great drinks, great vibes, and unbeatable...
