Hong Kong Restaurant — Restaurant in Augusta

Standard americanized Chinese cuisine. Definitely the best I have tried on the south side of Augusta (steer clear of the place by Bi-Lo on Peach Orchard Road). Lunch specials are well priced for the portions you get and the food is consistently good... and cooked fully!

My only complain is that the girl who usually works at the front desk is rude as heck. I realize it is a cultural thing but she will often rush you through your order and really has no customer service skills beyond a very rough, unintelligible "thank you" at the end of the transaction.

Staples include crab rangoon, won tons, sesame chicken, peppered steak, and lo mein. The real stand-out for me is that the pork fried rice always has the right color and cook to it, whereas many places out here will undercook it and not use enough oils and MSG, resulting in a bland side dish.

Again, portions are rather generous so you can feed a large group and have some leftovers if you divvy it up right. Arguably the best bang for your buck in the area outside of mayhe Red Shark. Of course, with all the sodium and sugars, you may not want to make it a mainstay, even if it is rather tasty! Also, someone teach the girl to smile every now and...

Very poor customer service. The cashier/co-owner walked away as I was figuring out what to order. When I asked a question about a dish, she walked off again to pull up some fried chicken that was cooking. After pulling up fried chicken, she went to the refrigerator located behind the counter to pull more chicken from a bucket. Placed the refrigerated chicken into a frying basket, dumped chicken into grease, then back to counter to finally serve me. (Didnt wash hands either. Cross contamination) Once back at the register, she began pulling her right ear lobe, after doing everything that I mentioned above. At that point I ask the cashier/co-owner, "are you going to wash your hands?" She said yea but never did, so I walked out. This restaurant is very unprofessional and practice very unsanitary habits. This company needs to be shut down. The establishment is absolutely filthy and their customer service is terrible.. They have no problems making you wait long periods of time for your food. I’m a delivery driver and this is one of the merchants I pick up from, but after waiting 45 to an hour this last time for my customers food, I expressed a few choice words to them and I never received an apology or anything… Instead the red head at the register was laughing as I was talking to someone behind the counter.. Needless to say, I have banned them from being on my pick up list!! My customers mean more to me than this..
