Silver Creek Grille — Restaurant in Aurora

Awkward experience! I’ve been a regular for years and enjoy meeting friends and family at this local gem. Not anymore!! Horrible service on March 3rd. From just trying to have a regular dinner out with my husband. -As we walked in, our soon to be waitress did not greet us even though she was standing right in front of us while awkwardly looking away, so we kinda didn’t know what to do until finally another lady comes over to seat us. Off to a bad start. -No drink menu was given so had to wait on that forever even though she walked by a bunch of times without stopping. We should have just left then! -Ordered a beer and a cocktail. Husband gets his beer and 15 minutes later the wrong cocktail shows up. The lady that delivers it walked away so fast that I had to get up and go across the restaurant to politely mention it’s not correct (if it was close to the cocktail I had ordered, I would have normally just not cared but it was completely different). I was shooed away when I ask to please not replace it, as the food had just arrived. I was completely over talked and they swapped it anyway… which came another 10 minutes later as we were nearly done eating. We were charged for the drink even though I clearly said that I would rather not have it at this point. -My husband did not receive his included side of tots nor did I receive a side of honey mustard… lots of time went by and I even locking eyes with the waitress again for her to please stop by, she ignored us!!!! Whyyyy! My husband gave in and had to go across the restaurant to ask for them. The tots came out way later with the bill. -When the server returned the bill, she didn’t say anything at all… like usually there’s a nice “have a good evening” or something. She did promptly bring us a takeout box for the tots which was good. -There were only three other tables seated and two folks at the bar with several staff members. So, I just can’t understand why this all went so wrong. We know that mistakes happen but this could have been avoided very easily. I will not be going back for a long time until the wait staff turns over, even though I have enjoyed the convenience of stopping in for years. They had my mother in law's memorial gathering there. We took up 4 tables and the "catering" consisted of 2 wilted and small veggie plates with dip, some (probably 100) wings, 2orders of pitas and hummus and water or soda. That's it. The absolutely insane owner felt that $1200 was reasonable price for that!!!!!! FACT: we could have all ordered meals off the menu and spent less! He also tried to sneak in a room rental fee and said it's not his fault his mother didn't tell us about that when we made the reservation. SHE WAS THE HOSTESS!! We were in the middle of the restaurant, not in a private room. Obviously, as any sensible person would, we disputed the bill. He wouldn't bring us an itemized list. He initially refused to budge on the bill. Now, if this experience had truly been worth $1200 we would have had no problem paying it, but it was far from it. We refused to pay such a ridiculous bill and the haggling began. When he said he couldn't take less than $1000, we said absolutely not. So this drunk, beligerant, fool of a person, called the police on us. Which turned out to be pretty amusing considering the police agreed with us . They were also no strangers to the owners antics and had been called before on him, which should tell you something. We finally ended up paying $600.00 (in cash because he said if we used a credit card he was going to up the price. Suspicious) and left dumbfounded that someone of this caliber actually runs a restaurant in Aurora. This wasn't worth $600 but we were tired of dealing with this idiotic little man and just wanted to leave. Hopefully he gets shut down soon because he is a total scum bag. I have never had such an awful experience at restaurant my wife and I took our 4 month old there for dinner excited to try a new place we heard wonderful things about the first thing we noticed when we walked in was how hot it was in there but we sat down and ordered some drinks I ordered a blueberry Martini and after two sips it made my stomach turn I'm not sure why, I'm guessing maybe it was the syrup the use in it. But the bartender was sweet and took it off of our bill. Our food came out quickly but after 15 minutes in that restaurant my 4 month old started getting really fussy and her cheeks where all red she was so hot it was incredibly uncomfortable I was sweating my wife was sweating and she's never hot it got so bad I couldn't even eat my meal when it came out I had to take my baby outside so she could cool down and the minute we got outside she calmed down and was fine our waitress said it had been that hot in there all day and that the kitchen staff was miserable from working in that heat we didn't even get to enjoy our meals because of it my wife who was still inside payed and we left it was ridiculous I would compare it to sitting in a hot car on a 80 degree day trying to eat...
