Taqueria El Compa — Restaurant in Austin

Pretty terrible place. Starting with the ordering experience: They hung a tiny speaker right in front of the counter, at face height, so it's literally blasting music in your face. We couldn't hear the lady taking our order, and she couldn't hear us, until I asked her if she could please lower the volume. She seemed annoyed, and immediately turned the volume back up when we were done ordering. The speaker was connected to her phone and we could hear her notifications every time she got a message (which was every 10 or so seconds). Super obnoxious.

They didn't have half of the items in the menu, which was already hard to see because they installed a TV in front of it. She was annoyed every time I asked for something on the menu that they didn't have (like breakfast tacos, at 10am on a Sunday?). In general, terrible service and attitude.

We ordered a mollete and a couple of gorditas. The gorditas were good. I couldn't believe the mollete though. Instead of spreading beans on a cut bolillo and melting cheese on top of it, they slapped some pre-mixed beans and cheese on top of a whole bolillo without even cutting it. See the picture. This...

I arrived behind some large parties it seems. Took over 15 for get 4 tacos. They didn't have a lot of the menu items listed and I received the wrong order but like I said there was 2 large orders ahead of me so I feel they were stressed and just trying to push things out. The cashier was nice.

The patio area was relaxing lot of air flow and shade.

Street parking available across the street.

Meat flavor was 10 out of 10 the pastore and tripe tacos were some of the best I've had here recently. The green salsa was okay nothing special and not spicy.

Over all a good experience besides receiving some incorrect items (type of tortilla wrong drink) it was a good experience. I will say they looked stressed so I didn't tell them some items were incorrect so I can't speak on how they...

Food: they DO NOT taste authentic. Was reading reviews about this place, and it seemed promising, but maybe people don't know where good birria is? Well... I do. I got the Birria tacos, which I thought would be decently priced... nope. They, for some reason, put 2 corn tortillas for the taco... so it just tasted like a watered-down corn tortilla. Service: The service was good, nobody in line Atmosphere: it's awesome! Nice covered patio. Even though you have to listen to the Riverside Cops flying around the ghetto over here.
