If you don't even believe there's a God then skip past this review because I am not kidding when I say my experience was a religious one. I had passed on some alfredo the night before because they served it over penne pasta and I was craving the real thing. I trust it was God's omniscience and deep love for His kids that guided us the very next day to Elk Horn, IA where they know pasta at The Flour Mill. We honestly had no intention of stopping on our long drive home from South Dakota, heading to SE Iowa when we came to the exit. "Something" told us to take that exit and drive 5 miles AWAY from home to this little town. Old John Jensen was in the windmill gift store and told us the "restaurant at the top of the hill" was open on Sundays, and the rest is history. Never have I ever had such a wonderful plate of alfredo. The service was great, too. We can't wait to come back.

The best pizza EVER! Hand tossed, cooked perfectly, choose your sauce, meat and toppings. The cheese bread, which was also excellent, came with a smooth dipping sauce that we wanted to take home. This is the first time we've seen garlic powder in a shaker on the table. I remembered to take pictures of the appetizer, but was so excited for the pizza I had to take pictures of the one leftover piece at home! Small town small restaurant and the staff were still wonderful, even with the weekend onslaught! WELL worth the money and the time!!

Great experience all around... walk in and your hit by incredible smells from the kitchen! Professional friendly service, clean comfortable environment. And the food... wow. Can't wait to go back and try the pasta. Our pizza was great. We recommend the frikdeller (Danish type of 'meatball'). Desserts were good too! Only complaint was that the dinning area was chilly. Had to leave our jackets on!

We made a detour into Elk Horn to visit the Danish Museum. We were hungry so stopped at The Flour Mill for lunch. What a delightfully tasty treat that was! We had pizza that was the best we’ve ever had. We also had some dessert to go. Mint chocolate chip cake and key lime pie both made from scratch by his wife. Oh my word was it delicious. The owner waited on us and told us about his little place. He was very friendly and most accommodating. Refilled our drinks and provided drinks to go for us. If we ever get back this way we will be sure to stop again. Thank you for a...
