As a family of 7, Pizza is one of our go to meals when it's late or getting home from events. Papa John's is one of our favorite go to places. I worked and managed pizza shops for nearly 10 years. So I may be a little bit more critical when it comes to good pizza joints.
Tonight..... the food was great and they didnt miss a beat with quality. The failure tonight comes from the customer service department. From what seemed to be the manager on duty, Christopher. He answered my call dismissively, as if he did not want to take the order. I ordered at 10:35pm, 25 minutes to close. I've experienced this situation many times in my tenure as a manager. Being young and inexperienced, I typically would get upset when people ordered late, near closing time. But as I became accustomed to the pizza business, situations like this are inevitable and learned to embrace these opportunities.
Most of the time it was a family that had a long day and the mom or dad just needed to have a quick easy dinner, and relied on the local pizzeria to deliver this service in their time of need.
As Christopher took my order, he seemed to not know the menu very well (which is fine), and became agitated as I began to order a few items. He stated that they werent delivering and I could only so pick up. Again, this was fine, i just needed to feed the family. He said the pick up time would be at least 25 minutes.
I figured they were busy, so I took my time getting up there and arrived between 10 and 15 minutes after 11pm. He called me at about 5 to 8 minutes after 11pm and asked if I was still getting the order. I stated that I was only a few minutes away.
I walked inside and he quickly asked if I was Dan as he was counting his drawer to close. I said "yes that's me". He says to me, "finally I can close, it's 25 minutes after close". I was taken back, because I would never say something like that to one of my customers.
He stated the amount owed, I paid in cash. He gave me my food without providing a receipt. Which seemed kind of sketchy, so I asked for the receipt, and he says "yuppp" and then prints the receipt, then snatches it off the machine and hands it to me. I told him thank you and have a good night.
He replies in a snarky tone saying "I will now that I can close my drawer and go home after staying open after close for you." Then rushes to the door as I'm walking out and says says something else to outloud, pertaining to him being upset that he had to stay open for me.
I dont know what was so important for him to do on a Tuesday night in Lorain County, but as a business owner, a prior General Manager Pizza of various pizza shops and a customer, his attitude, lack of personality, and customer service skills is not what brings people back, nor represents what your company is about. I've had many great experiences, but this was one of the most rude ones...
Read morePlaced an online order at 6:22pm paid in full online with a 20% tip in advance and order was confirmed with a delivery time of 7:13-7:23pm. A received a text message notification at 6:57pm notifying me that my order was on its way. At 7:27pm my order had still not yet arrived. I called the store and spoke with the night manager who was extremely rude and said the order was out for delivery but the driver took two orders on that trip and mine was second for delivery even though we only live 7 minutes from the store. My order had at this point been riding around in the delivery driver’s car for 30 minutes and the night manager said well there is nothing I can do for you, I can’t make traffic go any faster and it will be there when it gets there and was being extremely dismissive, rude and you could tell he was having a rough night and didn’t care at all about his job or providing any level of customer service. When I asked why he was being so rude to me when I’m the customer and just calling to check on why my order has been delivered in the delivery timeframe and why it has been riding around in a car for 30 minutes he said I’m hanging up now and just hung up. I tried calling back several times and he repeatedly hung up on my each time without even speaking to me just seeing the number on their caller id. The order finally arrived at 7:41pm and I had to go outside as the delivery driver tried to deliver it to the neighbors house. When I brought it in it was already cold and the boxes were soaking wet all the way through the cardboard from the foil wrapped peppers. Photos attached. I would not recommend ordering from this store location, especially for delivery. The night manager needs a lesson in customer service and they are clearly under staffed and just taking every order even when they can’t make and deliver them with any level of quality, service,...
Read moreGreat pizza, unfortunately, with unexpected inedible toppings this time around. I have ordered from this location before and really didn’t have anything to complain about, if anything both food and service were great. But yesterday when I got a pizza from there and (so far) I found 2 little surprises in it. The first was a pice of nylon string. Which was within my tolerance level, really. I just picked it off, no problem. Now the next finding really took care of my appetite. At first I thought it was just a string of cheese coming out the side of the slice. I really hoped that it was just that. But when I pulled it out it turned out to be a 3-inch long rough yellow hair (dog hair?!). It had a hair bulb on the end and everything, no way was this not a hair. Nothing against dogs and their owners but GROSS, that was just GROSS. Three stars only because of all the good food that I got from them before. Update: pulled a hair (this time it looks like it came from a human) out of another slice. Taking it...
