This place really makes THE BEST Steaks & Subs! It's almost impossible to get an old fashion Philly cheese steak today - even in Philly. Many other shops today use a reconstituted steak meat - think of processed steak lunch meat. It is made from rendering which used to be thrown away or sold as rendering. Earl's uses sliced beef NOT steak lunch meat!
Some clever dude figured out how to remove the used to be rendered beef scrap, mix it with prime meat, grind it up, make a slurry or paste out of it, roll it out and dry it, then cut it on a machine to make it look like sliced steak meat. It is then sold as steak meat for sandwiches...
Now ya know why it's so hard to find "old Fashion" Philly cheese steaks that taste so good! Well at least it cost less then real sliced steak meat.
Whenever I'm in the area (which is not often...darn) I pick up a sub or steak from Earl's. I can even eat it in the car because Earl's DOES NOT make a sloppy hard to eat cheese steak which requires dozens of napkins to mop up the slop! I HATE drippy, sloppy cheese sauce or what ever the hell it is other shops put into/on their cheese steaks! Worse yet, CHEESE WIZ - Any shop that uses Cheese Wiz should be boarded up with the owners...

Even on a Saturday afternoon there were at least 10 people in line ahead of us when we arrived. All in all we waited close to 30 minutes for our lunch after placing the order.
The only reason I can come up for them being slow is love. These sandwiches are perfection. I went with the Classic Turkey w/ Bacon and after eating this monster I didn't eat again for 24 hours. It was a great sandwich with top shelf toppings on a D'Ambrosio roll.
While you're waiting you can walk through the shop and pick out a drink from the huge assortment of them and a snack to go with your sandwich.
Next time I go I'm definitely trying the...
Read moreThis place is the perfect small town deli/sub shop. The staff were extremely friendly and personable. They had a great selection of local drinks and snacks. Now onto the subs. I was working close by for a week and ate here daily for lunch. The portions are BIG. They do NOT skimp out on the meats and cheeses like many other places. The turkey classic sub was phenomenal but the chicken philly was truly great. One thing I hate about going home from jobs is the fact that I will probably never be able to eat here again. Highly...
