TaQueria Melendez — Restaurant in Azle

I have passed this place a million times since we moved to the area, and I never knew they sold food! I actually thought it was a party planning store, because I'd always see the cute little piñatas in the window. I would've known otherwise, had I looked for the name on the building, but that didn't happen. Until today. So I'm searching Google for authentic Mexican food nearby, and I see Taqueria Melendez. Reviews looked great, and the person who answered the phone was super friendly and helpful, so I decided to place an order and give them a try.

I ended up ordering two burritos (one pork, one beef), eight tacos (four pork, four beef), and four of the biggest Mexican Cokes I've ever seen. I didn't know how big they were until I pulled up to get my order, so I was very pleasantly surprised. I noticed right away how AMAZING the food smelled, and I couldn't wait to get home to dig in. Once I'd arrived and started removing items from the bag, I was a little disappointed to find that my pork burrito had mistakenly been replaced with another beef one. However, after taking my first bite, I was too blown away to be anything but fat and happy as I continued taking bites until there was no more burrito.

Want to know the last time I was able to finish a burrito in one sitting before today? Can't tell you, because I don't remember. That's how long it's been. That burrito was DELICIOUS. It was so good that I forgot to take advantage of all the delicious fixin's they provided -- extra cilantro, onions, salsa, hot sauce, lime, etc. I just went in and demolished it. I'm definitely going back and ordering the pork again so I can try that one, too. As always, the Mexican Coke (aka the superior Coke) was outstanding.

I'm too full to try the tacos (yes, I'm writing this review immediately after eating, because that's how good that damn burrito was), but my boyfriend had one of each and reported that they were also delicious. He did mention that he prefers the burritos to the tacos overall because the taste of the corn tortillas on the tacos kind of overpowers the taste of the meat and everything else, but that the pork pairs better with the corn tortillas when compared to the beef. He tasted the beans, but didn't eat the entire container's worth because he was full from the other food. Hallelujah! My nose is safe...for now.

All in all, if you're driving by and happen to see those piñatas in the window, pull over and get some food. You and your taste buds will be happy that...

Is really hard for me to write this review because we used to love this place we been going there since 2016 but is getting worse and worse every time. they have no dress code and servers do a very minimum to help no refills no chips unless you ask couple times if you ask for a special request from kitchen they are very rude and don’t answer you they don’t want to modify your dish even if you pay extra- NOT EVERY ONE LIKES BEANS they’re in the business of cooking and making food for-the community. What bothers me most is the gossip among them talking bad about the customers specially the elderly SPECIALLY THE SHORT LADY NAME RAYO👈🏽🦜PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE COMMUNITY MADE YOU AND THAT COMMUNITY CAN ALSO BREAK YOU Also don't be lazy and clean your Kitchen is filthy and very disorganized. Went to try out the breakfast burritos of this new place. Got inside and asked about the breakfast burritos and was told they were 11.00 I immediately thought this must be one heck of a burrito? Asked if it was a foot long or more? Said no,just normal size. So I thought it must be really big around? Nope It was pretty small ,and asked for chorizo, potatoes,and egg I took it to the car to check it out and only got chorizo and egg. So I went back in to get some potatoes put inside of my burrito and in that short time the power company had turned off the electricity. I even checked her breaker box and meter outside no power, and walked down to Walgreens and Whataburger and their power was on? Guess that explains the 11.00 burrito? Would...
