Yohannes Kitfo — Restaurant in Bailey's Crossroads

My experience at Meda (Yohanes Cetffo) Ethiopian Restaurant was truly disheartening. I came in for a simple cup of tea, but left feeling small, unwelcome, and deeply disrespected. The place wasn’t busy at all — just a few people inside — yet I was completely ignored. The waitresses were standing around, laughing loudly, giving all their energy and smiles to the tables they thought were worth their time — the ones spending more. Meanwhile, I sat there waiting far too long, like I was invisible. And when my tea finally came, the way it was served said everything — rushed, cold, and without a trace of warmth. I was given short, dismissive responses, as if they just wanted me to drink quickly and leave. No welcoming face, no kindness. Just the message: “You're not important.” No one should be made to feel that way. Respect and hospitality should never be based on how much someone spends. I came in hoping for a quiet, respectful moment. I left feeling hurt, and honestly, a little ashamed for even thinking I’d be treated with decency. I came here to get dinner before work. This was the second and absolutely shall be the last time I come here.

I ordered the kitfo + qurt combo. It's just fresh raw meat, it shouldn't take long to serve, it somehow took 20 minutes to come; I nearly gave up and ran off right before it finally arrived. Food was alright, but lacking in flavor and spice.

The atmosphere was loud and obnoxious. It's a bar primarily. If you don't want a club atmosphere, don't come here.

Now comes the bad part.

I had been here before and got a tummy ache the following day. This time, I ended up with a really bad time in my guts. Raging mega diarrhea for the next 5 days. I had to miss work, and I was very sick. My intestines simply wouldn't absorb anything, neither drink nor food. I was empty yet it kept coming, passing just bile and slime.

Don't come here. This place is terrible. I filed a health department complaint. I pray it...

Service was very bad. We ordered Shekla tibs and kitfo. The food was cold. The shekla didn't have even flames and the waitress told us she will bring it after she served the food never happened.
