Never thought I'd be writing a negative review of Sawatdy, but here we are. Ordered our usual after a long day, excited to eat it when I go home, but there was no spice. I always get northern noodle 3 stars. This time, there was no stars. I called to let them know, since I've been a customer for over 20 years and this has never happened. The owner said that I was mistaken that there was spice, but I probably didn't notice it, and refused to refund the dish or offer any alternative bc she "didn't want to lose money". So here I am, with a dish that doesn't even really taste good without its spice, that I paid for, and isn't what I ordered. I've ordered this dish 50+ times, I know what it's supposed to taste like. Pretty bummed about the whole thing. Also sad that now we won't be going back ever again bc the whole interaction was so...
Read moreI was disappointed to learn that Kachai is owned by Sawatdy Thai Cuisine from Bainbridge Island. Their pricing structure raises some concerns. A vegetarian fried rice is priced at $18, while the beef version is $20—a $2 difference. However, requesting to add cashews to the vegetarian dish incurs a $5 charge, with staff suggesting it should be $7. If beef only adds $2 to the cost, it’s perplexing that a handful of cashews would warrant more than double that amount. This pricing strategy seems to undervalue vegetarian options.
I fondly remember when this restaurant was run by the local family and Mr. Tran, my former teacher and an exceptional individual. It’s unfortunate to see the current approach, which appears to penalize vegetarian customers for simple additions...
Read moreI rarely write reviews and more rarely, bad ones. I don't want to hurt a business. But this was so bad, I feel ripped off. First and last time I ate at this Thai restaurant I was disappointed. It was just not good and that was about 8 years ago. Eight years later, tonight, I thought I'd give it another chance. Encouraged by the amount of cars parked in front. I ordered a Thai soup with chicken and Pad Tha noodles with pork. The soup was ok, but. It very Thai like. But the pad Thai was the worst I have ever eaten. Tasted absolutely like shredded wet cardboard. a weird flavor that was really a non flavor. The meat was like dried up old restaurant meat chunks. i'm extremely mad that I spent the money there. If you know Thai food, or any good food, don't go....
