I placed a pickup order from Sweet Home Jamaica today for oxtail with rice & peas and cabbage, plus a mango sea moss drink. Oxtail: 🔥 10/10. Perfect seasoning — a little Cajun kick blended with rich Caribbean spices. The meat was tender, flavorful, and the portion size was great. Only small note? I wish they had added a little more of that delicious oxtail gravy on top. That would’ve made it perfection. (So technically 9.5/10.) Rice & Peas: Cooked perfectly — not mushy, not dry, just right. Balanced flavor that complemented the oxtail beautifully. Cabbage: …Yeah, no. 2/10 (and honestly, it felt more like a 0). The flavors just weren’t there. It gave “Here you go since you asked” energy, like when your mom throws something on your plate so you’ll stop talking. Definitely not the highlight of the meal. Mango Sea Moss Drink: Love mango, love sea moss, and this combo works. Refreshing and smooth. Solid 8–9/10, but felt like it was missing a little something extra to make it pop. Extra Notes: They forgot my cocoa bread in my pickup order, which was disappointing. On top of that, they completely forgot an entire order for someone I was with. When they went back to pick it up, they were told the restaurant had run out of everything — which is why those items weren’t in the bag in the first place. That information would have been great to know ahead of time or at least when picking up the order, rather than after making a second trip. Overall: If I average it out, this meal lands around an 8.5–9/10. The oxtail and rice & peas will have me coming back for sure. But I’ll skip the cabbage next time, double-check my bag before leaving, and hope the communication is better in the future.

4.5 stars! This was a really good meal. I am in town for a training. My first time in MD, and I wanted some Jamaican food. I found them on Google and they delivered with doordash so we tried it. The taste was really flavorful. We were very pleased with it. We had the jerk chicken. I will say that it has a spicy kick to it. Well… HOT kick. If you don’t like hot or spicy food you may want to consider a different dish. I wasn’t sure if it came with cabbage so I purchased extra. It was unnecessary because it DOES come with cabbage. We also had the beans and rice which was really delicious. I was very pleased with the meal overall. I took half a star because of how spicy it was. It made it difficult to eat, but not impossible. The portions were plentiful. I was very happy with the food.

I was in the mood for some Caribbean food on a Friday. I was in the neighborhood and decided to give them a try. I thought that this was just a carryout so I was surprised to see that the restaurant was filled with nice seating and decor. The menu had so much to choose from but I picked a few things for my to-go order. I ordered a large Curry Goat, a large Brown Stew Chicken, and a small Curry Chicken. The food was full of flavor and the portion sizes for the chicken dishes were good. The only complaint was the Goat. The Goat itself was good but it seemed like the dish was filled with a lot of vegetables and rice. An extra scoop of goat would have been love. I'll be back soon to try more dishes.

I come to this restaurant all the time. Never really experience anything bad, besides some rudeness when the lady work upfront. But today, I order from door dash for the first time. I made my order and it was confirmed. About 5 mins later I received a call from the restaurant that they didn't have one of the items. So they wanted to sub it out for something else. I didn't want anything else so I asked to cancel that item and proceed with the order. I contacted door dash and let them know i need to be refunded for that item. 15 mins later received call from the doordasher, he was rude also. He told me they wasn't making my food. Ok. So I called the restaurant and that lady said, Because you didn't sub the item, we cancelled the order. What!???? I told the lady you didn't say you was canceling the whole order because you didnt have the item available. Why have it on the menu. She hung the phone up on me. Just Rude. I wont be going back. I will going up the street to...

This place is absolutely NOT BLACK owned nor do I think any Jamaicans are in the back preparing the meals. Hispanics own this store and prepare the food… explains the lack of authentic flavors and plating.

I got the jerk chicken lunch special (they drenched it in sauce so much so that the rice is soupy) the flavor of the jerk is just not what I’m accustomed to. It’s very spicy but there’s something vinegary in the sauce. Chicken was over cooked and burnt to an extent and the Jamaican patty was dry and not much meat or flavor. The prices are alright for the lunch specials though! So if you’re not worried about authentic taste or flavor check it out. I can say that I won’t be trying this place again. The lunch specials are precooked whereas the small and large sizes are made to order and taken on the other side of the store. Maybe that side may be better due to it being fresh… idk but I don’t think that I’d try this...
