Mussell Beach Drive In Bay city Michigan — Restaurant in Bangor Township

First and last time I will be here on 8/18/21. This business should also not be taking cash only if their employees can’t count. The girl taking our order was extremely rude, disrespectful and unhelpful. The total for our order was 6.46. I had a coin pouch with a large amount of change and counted exactly forty-six cents out: 1 quarter, 1 nickel, 1 dime and 6 pennies. I handed this to the employee with a $20 bill. She then gives me $13.90 back, saying I only gave her 36 cents. The fact that I know I counted the appropriate amount of change aside, why would she see a pouch of change and assume I gave her 36 cents? If that were the case, why not re-count or ask if I had another ten cents, which I clearly did? Apparently the type of “cents” she needs is the common variety. She also messed up our order: we wanted one cone and a cup, but she gave us two cups. I told her the order was wrong and she said “okay.” Did not tell the other staff to fix the order, did not ask if she could fix the problem, nothing. Just ignored us. I had to wait at the pick-up spot to speak to a different staff member to get the problem corrected. We will definitely not be back...

Usually, I have good things to say about Muscle Beach, but unfortunately this is not one. I ordered 4 small soft serve cones and stood in the sweltering walk thru area for 22 minutes (yes I timed it!) waiting for my purchase. There were 5 people before me, with one girl making the 4 milkshakes/cement mixers and 2 soft serve cones for those 5 people. I wondered why the other 6 workers who were standing around couldn't help out by, perhaps, making the simple soft serve cones while the other girl worked FOR TWENTY TWO MINUTES making the other items. Honestly couldn’t love this place more.

First place I had a meal in Michigan - and had the chance to chat with the owner - family owned and operated, a dream of his mother’s, and continuing a legacy of great food and service that we could all use these days. Sure, a burger, fries, and a shake doesn’t sound like “therapy” - but couple that with a conversation and community minded business model (it’s all fresh, everyday, all year round) - and it certainly makes one’s day better.
