Maybe we went here on an off day but this was one of the strangest and grossest food experiences I've ever had. A friend and I went here on Sunday at 11:15 to grab a couple of subs before heading out for a hike and we had to turn around and leave before we even got our food because we were so disgusted.
I don't know if the girl behind the counter was high, developmentally delayed, or what, but she was in no condition to be left in charge of this place by herself. It took her 8 minutes to take our order (yes 8 minutes) because she kept repeating everything we said as if she didn't understand what we were asking and would then look at the menu behind her. They have a genoa sub on their menu and my friend asked for the genoa sub. The girl looked at my friend confused and asked "GEE-NO-A? Um alright..." and studied the menu board behind her for awhile. My friend then asked "genoa is a type of salami right?" The girl wasn't able to answer us and was extremely confused when my friend asked if she could have cheddar cheese on the sandwich. After several more moments of confusion we told her that was all we wanted because if cheddar cheese is throwing you for a loop then we can live without it.
She then took the check, ripped it off the order pad, and placed it under the register. Maybe for safe keeping? We then proceeded to watch one of the most disgusting displays of public health violations I've ever seen. The girl turned around and grabbed some gloves which took her a few minutes just to put on, then she took 2 rolls of bread out of the bag, inspected one and threw it in the trash. She then reached into the trash to take a second look at the roll she threw away, and threw it back in the trash. She took the other roll (with her dirty trash hand) and grabbed a knife from the counter that was covered in something brown and greasy and almost cut into the bread, but she realized her mistake and put the roll of bred down and then proceeded to wipe the knife with a dirty rag then cut into the bread! After witnessing that we left, because I'd rather not get food poisoning while I'm 4 miles out in the backcountry.
I think even if we told her we couldn't pay for the sandwiches because of her lack of food safety protocol she wouldn't have been able to figure it out. If the young woman that attempted to take our order is reading this I'm very sorry we left without saying anything. I hope your boss(s) realize that you need some help because they never should have left you in charge without proper training or if you're high or require supervision. And if the owners are reading this, please, train your staff and make sure they're competent to handle being left alone in a restaurant. Good thing we didn't order anything hot, I can't imagine the staff working with open flames or anything that requires...
Read moreToppings are NOT .75 cents extra, so follow on facts before you listen to dramatized reviews. There are 4 thin slices of ham, 4 thin slices of cotta, and 4 thin slices of Genoa on a deluxe, not one... Same recipe for every deluxe served. I know this because I slice those "thin slices" about 4 times a week. Our deluxe also has swiss, american, and provolone cheese along with the three meats, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, pickles, oil , salt and pepper. And we Run out of warmer pizza constantly, because people are always eating it. We treat each customer with respect and if we make a remark its probably because you deserve one... We take pride in our shop and hope to serve each and every customer with good food and service. We slice and dice our veggies each morning, and cut our meat and cheese a few times a week. We put in 12 hour days, and have customers who return EVERY DAY! I noticed some people can't handle self serving themselves sorry there wasn't a butler. Hope to...
Read moreRead the 1-2 star reviews first. When a business charges extra to toast your sub in a pizza oven you have a problem. I get it, businesses trying to recover from COVID…That doesn’t mean you have to gouge the customer. Food quality is fresh and yes the sub tasted good. For the price and basically using a hot dog bun is not how you should make a sub. It was t even a foot-long. The bun doesn’t even fit the toppings. Subway should be used as an example on how to make a proper sub. Then to have your sub served in a paper container that should be used for French fries while others had their sub served wrapped……Why, because this business caters to regulars who get a different quality than walk-in tourist. How do I know they were regulars, they all said, ‘see you tomorrow’. The wait is horrible. Two people to serve five customers and a 20 min wait for your food. They do not have their...
