Best Lobster Deal in Bar Harbor!
Twin Lobsters with corn and butter only $35 12p-3p daily. I’ve seen lobster rolls overpriced to that point.
It’s a shame that a lot of businesses closer to the “downtown area” probably have to price their food higher to cover rent increases, but idk some of these businesses have been around a while.
Anyways, here’s my review:
Food 5/5 The lobsters were delicious. Any foodies that like the “tomalley” will find it sweet. No orange “roe” this visit, unfortunately, because I love that as well, but the green tomalley was still good. I personally enjoy the white parts in the claw as well. Good kind of salty. This is thanks to the lobsters reportedly being stored in a 500 gallon tank with the same water found in the bay. The whole lobster tastes especially freshly cooked because of this. The tail and claws were cooked just the right amount of time so wasn’t too chewy like it can get when over cooked. I also had the blueberry cake with blueberry ice cream. This was the perfect finish. I was worried it would be overwhelming sweet with all the blueberries, but they were excellent together (even with a blueberry ale with fresh blueberries in it haha) Only complaint about food is the shrimp cocktail had maybe 5-6 shrimp, seems over priced at $15. Also the ice cream with cake was extra $4 instead of listed $2.
Service 5/5 The woman who sat us was very friendly to greet us. She may also be the owner or manager because she was in a meeting later while we were eating. She also offered to take our photo out on the porch! Our server Dan was excellent! It was fortunate it wasn’t busy during our visit, but he rounded on us regularly, making sure we didn’t need anything. He was very friendly as well and made the great recommendation to try the cake over the pie (pie reportedly really good as well, but everywhere around here serves pie, but not cake!). He recognized some repeat customers and acknowledged that which I thought was nice.
Atmosphere 5/5 Adding to the experience was the atmosphere. Friendly staff and amazing views over the water. It was serene eating a great meal with an outstanding view. Loud music wasn’t blasting to take away from the vibes.
All in all I definitely recommend this spot for its lunch time twin lobster deal alone! There’s a decent amount of alcohol selections available at fair prices. The food is also appropriately priced especially in comparison with the prices out in Main Street or even some of the...
Read moreA coworker and I ate there. He had the awesome lobster boil, a ton of great food--lots of muscles, a whole lobster, corn on the cobb and then blueberry cake. It was huge, but he cleaned every plate! I had the haddock sandwich, a more normal sized portion, but also great tasting and very filling.
The most awesome thing was the next night I realized I was missing my company credit card. My last purchase was the privious night's feast at Lobster Bakes. I got to the restaurant just after closing, and every wait staff member helped search for my missing card. They were amazing, and located the card I had left behind. I'm so thankful for their friendly service and willingness to go above and beyond to help me out.
Their service during our meal was exceptional, but their willingness to locate my card the following night after hours left me without words to express my appreciation! They Rock!
Even without their help resolving my bone head move of leaving my card, it is a restaurant I would highly recommend and can't wait to visit again on my next trip to Bar Harbor!
Thanks again ladies!!
The prices were fair, and the food and service are amazing.
VERY highly recommended!
Outdoor dining is dog friendly, including a pup menu.
Great service and excellent food.
It's about 3 miles from town center with free parking. For me it's a must not miss when you...
Read moreAfter a long day of hiking in the rain, I thought I'd treat myself. I was REALLY disappointed. I ordered a beer and the lobster bake - this included a full lobster, bag of muscles, corn cob, dinner roll, clam chowder, and a peice of cake.
The clam chowder was the only item worth having. I should've ordered a bowl and called it a day. Everything else was just ok, except the muscles - did not like these at all. No flavor just baked in a bag? Very boring. Could have used garlic or wine at the very least. Corn was low quality, and again, lacked seasoning. The lobster (the main event) had a lot more liquid in it than meat. The claws were tasty, otherwise it was very underwhelming.
And to add insult to injury, I did not like the cake. It was very strange - like a dry crumbly spiced cake with blueberries?
Atmosphere left much to be desired. The floor shook when servers walked past the tables. It was basically a big space - so the baby screaming across the room, really echoed off the walls. The only positive point is that there was a view of the sea.
Servers were very friendly.
I think this is probably the toughest review I've ever written, however, it's an honest one, and at the price point here I was definitely salty about the...
