This is the kind of place you don’t talk about because you want to keep it all to yourself. The grilled chicken sando seems simple but is absolutely flawless in its execution. Gooey soft focaccia with grilled chicken, arugula, and a crazy yummy housemade spread. And I had to try the nitro maple oat latte and it did not disappoint and was so refreshing. I love the walk up window and tons of picnic tables made for a chill, community vibe. I was vacationing when I found it so that always adds something special, but I suspect locals come here for the excellent sandwiches and coffee as well.

Love love love this place! I’m a local, and finally visited after many years. Appreciate the vegan options, although only one was available on my visit (tip: go early - they sell out.) I ordered the Empress as a salad since I’m gluten free and the GF bread is not vegan. Super yummy. Deleted with smiles, eco-conscious packaging, and a beautiful setting for an outdoor lunch. Probably a good thing they don’t have punch cards, or some other local perk option, because I’d be coming here too often :P

Wow! This is a great place for some breakfast! Between our family we had The Ultimate (scrambled eggs, pork sausage, avacado spread, arugula, tomato and onion served on a local fresh baked Italian roll), the Garfield (grilled cheese on locally produced sourdough), a Blueberry Lemonade Matcha, a mocha latte, shot of expresso, scone and chocolate chip cookies. All were delicious, and they have some great covered seating on picnic tables. They've got some yard games to keep the kids entertained.

We got the summer’s kitchen and humble farmer and whatever the one had the steak inside it and then we came back and got the summer kitchen and a roll based sandwich later.

We loved LOVED the dill sauce on summer’s kitchen and my partner asked for it to be put on his custom roll and they did it without a qualm! Modification were easy, the tellers were all so sweet and nice and Bar harbor locals (nice to see some non tourists once in a while!). We biked around with our sandwiches until we found a beach and sat watching the ocean while digging into our lovingly made food. The ingredients are extremely high quality, the bread is exceptionally good, and the price reflects that! We will go anywhere for good food and so we came back to Mother’s Kitchen pretty much everyday on our trip. It is one of the few places on the island that doesn’t do lobster (which we don’t like) and focuses instead on Bar harbor’s secret national treasure: beautiful bountiful local farms.

My one regret is I never got yo taste their Bundt cake!! We got there everyday just a little too late :( they sell out fast so get there early!

What are you waiting for? Go bike...

I give Mother's Kitchen a mid-level rating. I went for a take out lunch today, and was glad that they were open. I like the Menu. I ordered a Maine Italian sandwich and a Pellegrino seltzer. No prices were posted, so I wasn't ready for the whopping bill: $17.71! The sandwich was good: good quality meats, cheese, and produce. It was quite small, served on an average quality roll, and well prepared. The price is too much, however, given the modest size of the sandwich. About 20% beyond a fair charge for my order. I think it's best to list prices on the Menu, especially when they are inflated. I won't go back there because they charge more than it's worth. It's just a Take out place. There are picnic tables, but there's no dining room or ambiance to speak of. I've lived and worked on the Island, and I see so many establishments making the mistake of fleecing people for their money for no good reason other than profit. Costs and staff wages have increased, but just under $18 for a decent lunch is unfair,...

My husband and I got married on 7/15 on MDI and were looking for a place to cater lunch for our large wedding party the morning of our wedding. Everyone we mentioned this to (including competitors of Mother's Kitchen!) said that Mother's was THE best sandwich shop on the island. Miraculously, on two days notice, Tasha and her team agreed to make 32 sandwiches and two large salads for us! The ordering process was super fast and easy, and Tasha reassured us that she would contact us on Facebook (super responsive) if anything came up. The day of, our bridesmaids and groomsmen couldn't stop talking about how incredible the sandwiches were. Anything that hadn't been eaten at lunchtime was gobbled up a few hours later at the after party. We are extremely grateful that several locals tipped us off on Mother's Kitchen and could not recommend it more strongly!!! Thank you, Tasha!!! -...
