Came here on Mother's Day for what i hoped would be an amazing dinner.
The COVID procedures in place are ODD HERE. You have to order the food ahead of time and either give them your number or wait towards the front/outside of the restaurant until your food is ready THEN they will seat you at a table. I wish i would of known this ahead of time because we would of picked another restaurant instead.
The ordering process was messy. The staff is a bunch of college jocks. During ordering our food, the waiter stopped acknowledging US to carry on a convo with his coworkers. They were laughing and carrying on as oppose to dealing with the customer FIRST. I should of ran away THEN.
My aunt and I wanted a WHOLE lobster. We were informed they didn't have ANY. So we opted for the Mix Salad instead. Which has lobster meat, shrimp and octopus in it. Its served with tostones and salad. Minutes after the waiter comes back and tells us that if we wanted lobster, we could have it but its going to cost $120. We declined because we were already annoyed and not happy with the customer service. AGAIN the waiter comes back and says they magically found one lobster and if we wanted it. I told my aunt to have it.
Food is finally ready now. The waiter brought our drinks and food over to us. We told him we wished to be seated and they took us towards the water. We finally opened the bag and the whole lobster was INSTEAD a pile of lobster meat with tostones and salad. I couldn't believe it. The menu clearly says the lobster is grilled and has butter, etc. Instead it was legit like a lobster ceviche. We told the waiter that's not what we ordered, he takes the food and comes back with the same lobster meat just NOW instead the lobster shell. Of course we were even more annoyed but HUNGRY. So we ate. Food was okay, nothing exciting.
Then the bill comes and they tried to charge us $54 for the lobster meat which is MORE then the $45 on their menu for the WHOLE lobster. It was a back and fourth fight with these people disputing the bill. TWO different waiters came to discuss it with us and the last person was the cook. The conversations got heated because we were told that they prepped the whole lobster and threw out the head, claws and shell/body. HOWEVER, they did bring my aunt back the food with the lobster meat inside the shell. Which means they took it out the trash?
I have no idea if they were overwhelmed since it was Mothers Day BUT this place sucks. They need NEW more mature staff members dealing with the customers. This place is over-rated since its on the water. I DO NOT RECOMMEND unless your taking the food to GO and even then, be sure to check the bags to ensure your order is correct.
Btw if you stay there to eat, be ready to have a stray dog come up to your table. The restaurant didn't even try to remove the dog from around the guest and tables. They kept telling us that the dog was friendly aka they feed him and he continues to...
Read moreopen-air, family-run, fast food style seafood joint with tables overlooking the beach and a could of wooden benches under wooden roof. Food was salty but not bad. Things like octopus empanadas and shrimp mofongo (curiously presented in a small bowl containing a soup like broth with the plaintains lining the bowl). You order at the window and they bring the food to your table. Friendly enough but not much English. We ate during sunset (careful: mosquitoes near the beach tables) before heading to the nearby outlets for...
Read moreThe location of this place is excellent, the employee service is good and attentive, the manager's ability to deal with dissatisfied customers is dismissive and lacking in care. I will recommend this place ONLY for fried turnover (pastelillos). I had the bad idea of trying a “fresh fish” and it came out overcooked, over-fried and with a very strong bad smell, not like snapper smells, just be careful. There are many other good places on the same road where you can eat good...
