Hong Kong Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Barrington

This is my first time ordering from Hong Kong Bakery in Barrington. I ordered a blueberry cream cake for my husband’s birthday. Kelly (the owner) was very kind and asked me what kind of design I like for the top of the cake. I love that she gave me a liberty to customize a bit for the cake. The cake was ready on time; when she says 4pm on the day, it will be exactly 4pm. I was very pleased when I picked up the cake. It was very beautiful! When we cut the cake, we were surprised to see a lot of fresh blueberries being put in the cream between the sponge cake! Wow and wow!! I also appreciate she didn’t put any kind of fake blueberry essence. I see some people complained her cake being too mild or not fragrant enough. These people just don’t understand; real fruit should not have overwhelming odor! Her cake tasted absolutely delicious and REAL! Better than other commercialized Korean bakeries in Chicagoland. Their customer service is excellent with a parking lot next to the Metra. *Ask for the frequency card for them to write down what you bought for gifts later. (Same as a punch card from subway)

Only drawback was just two tables for customers to enjoy the tasty cakes and buns. Mainly a carry out bakery for drinks, cakes, and buns. The smoothies are made from actual fruit blended together which tastes fresh with real fruit flavor! The cakes are freshly made moist, not sweet at all! *Make sure to pre order and call ahead a couple days to order their specialty cakes that come in 6”, 8”, and 10”. The buns are so good they run out quickly in the afternoon. I would preorder the buns too. Their BBQ Pork, custard, bean paste, and cheese hot dog buns are fantastic! All of their crepe cakes are so good! I tell all of my family and friends that live near Barrington to pick up a tasty cake, bun, and drink! We are so glad that we stopped by this hidden gem small family own business. Although the store display look kind of empty, what they have are very good. We had the BBQ pork bun (very good), 3 kind of Mille crepe cake (strawberry, rainbow and coffee, all are delicious), mini cookies (also delicious). We also had brown sugar bubble tea and taro sago coconut milk drink (soo good). If you order $30 or more, you get a free Mille crepe cake. Plus, the lady owner is very friendly.
