Jamaican Vibes Cuisine — Restaurant in Baton Rouge

Stay away from this place! The owners are rude and will lie to your face then try to gaslight you by pulling the race card! I ordered two rib plates Togo ($45.58 plus tax). Got to the restaurant and each plate had three small rib bones in it. I've ordered from this place multiple times before so I inquired about the small portion size. The manager proceed to gas light me and lie. THE SERVER STEPPED UP AND SAID THE REAL REASON WAS BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT OF RIBS! I was like, ok, thank you for being honest. Just say you ran out and I can order something different! Don't lie and try to gaslight me!

I was then told that I needed to wait for the owner to get a refund or just write my phone number down. As I was writing my phone number down, along with my complaint, the owner came in. He proceeded to say that there are only 3 small rib bones in each plate of ribs because "it's a different type of rib today." This was a lie, I cook ribs all the time, the correct explanation was the one given by their server, THEY RAN OUT!

When I told him what the server said, he attempted to reprimand her to the point where she felt uncomfortable admitting that she told me the truth.

I asked for a refund so that I could leave! He said I'd have to go through uber eats for the refund. While I'm processing the refund through uber eats like he instructed, he tells me to get out of his restaurant! I'm like, I'm currently communicating with the uber eats and they are telling me the restaurant didn't cancel the order, they marked it as completed. So I sit to try and figure out how to get my refund, the owners starts to berate me, use the race card saying, "it's always your own people... not during black history month..." they even called and lied to the police and told them I was irate and had a weapon! She proceed to tell her husband not to hit me! Why in the world would he hit me?!?! Never once did I raise my voice. I was assertive and firm, but not loud or irate!

I have never in my life been treated so poorly! I proceeded to just leave and say forget my refund because my feelings were so hurt! I just couldn't believe their behavior when they were wrong the entire time! Just admit that you made a mistake and correct it! All of this over 2 ribs plates??? Really??

I will never return! I will tell everyone that I know to never go there! The treatment that I received was unimaginably hurtful and scary...

LONG REVIEW!

I gave it 4 stars since the restaurant is still new and the service was excellent. However, food wise, I would rate it a 3.5. Perhaps we came on a bad night but they were out of everything we wanted such as the curry chicken and tropical wings.

We ordered: jerk chicken egg rolls 4/5 Jamrock wings 4/5 Jerk salmon pasta 3.5/5 Jerk shrimp 3/5

The egg rolls were good especially with an extra side of the sauce they drizzle on top. The jamrock wings were huge but they were fried to perfection. The jamrock sauce tasted similar to a jerk sauce but was still pretty tasty. The jerk salmon pasta was somewhat dry but the salmon was flavorful and the presentation was nice. My least favorite item was the jerk shrimp. They tasted like boiled shrimp with jerk sauce drizzled on top. The rice and peas were on the dry side and the vegetable medley was overcooked. The side of Mac and cheese had been microwaved too long so it was dried out They do offer happy hour from 6pm-8pm 🤪 and the rum punches were made well!

Overall, I would give this place another try and I think others should too, they just need to work out a few kinks but I think this restaurant...

I’m rating Jamaican Vibes Cuisine 0 stars. I initially ordered the ribs for my son (was told it takes 40+ mins) so I ordered the jerk chicken and fries. I ordered the jerk salmon pasta (was told the pasta was going to take too long for the pasta to be cooked) I ordered the snapper with rice and peas & macaroni, and my mom ordered the jerk shrimp with macaroni and cabbage. After waiting close to an hour we were told the snapper takes about 40 minutes. I told the waiter to bring my son’s food out along with my mom’s so they wouldn’t have to wait any longer. The food comes out around one hour and 30 mins later and my mom’s sides were wrong, my sides were wrong and the waiter told me my snapper was burned at the bottom (could be visibly seen) so they were going to bring another. I didn’t want to wait any longer & so I was forced to pay the $70.00 tab and leave. I was told they don’t honor refunds. I will say the rum punch was great and I was offered a replacement snapper, but who wants to wait another hour? I’m truly disappointed and hungry to...
