Looked like it was a family owned restaurant. This restaurant was way out of where we usually go. It was in a very secluded location. It has a lounge area, pool area, patio and regular seating area. The in decor was very outdated but we went there after hearing very good opinions about the food. We are very glad we went there. We ordered 2 meats which each came with 2 sides. We got a chicken leg quarter which was quite juicy and well seasones. The Rib tips were amazingly seasoned but the meat was a little tough than i would enjoyed it to be. Coming to the side dishes, they were really good. We got Mac and cheese - very silky and very cheesey Jambalaya - this side was charged extra but was worth it. Amazing taste. Red beans and rice - very homely tasted Baked beans - had that nice sweet barbecue sauce taste. Ordered Chicken/sausage gumbo - the best dish i ate there. The heat and flavor in this gumbo was totally next level.

All I can say is wow! This place is simply awesome. From the second we walked in we were welcomed and treated like family! Beyond friendly staff. More than just a place to eat, games, pool tables, lounge to relax in, indoor or outdoor seating. We had the beef rib with rice and gravy. Slow cooked for 18 hours and we were told it would fall of the bone and did it ever! Best food we have had in a long time. The menu has a good variety and the specials, man do they have them! We will be back and back and back! One very happy person.

Great BBQ place! Good food, friendly owner, and the Jazz music was quite alright. The place has a lot of cool areas: two patios, pool tables, lounge, and dining area. They should do something about the big lights in the dining area, especially when there is a band playing, this would create a better atmosphere, make it a bit more cozy. The location is a little out of the way, but it is worth the drive. I would say this place would also be perfect to rent for a big group or company for a private event or Friday after work meeting.

I was looking for some good smoked brisket last Friday 11/12/21, my usual place in New Orleans had run out and I had a taste for brisket. So we drove to Baton Rouge after searching google I found a place called the Smoky Pit. I got to the Smoky Pit and the Brisket was delicious The owner wasn't in, I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting his mother. The brisket was so good we decided to take an order of smoked pork ribs and smoked catfish to go. I told the owner's mama no need to warm it I can put them in the oven when we get home. I don't eat pork my fiance does. The ribs were bad, they were slimy and he was not able to eat them. I was very disappointed by this, I tried calling them on that Monday morning but they were closed. I tried calling the customer service line and I can't leave a message. That was my first and LAST TIME eating from...

First time eating here. Food was amazing and delicious! I had been looking for a good authentic BBQ spot in Baton Rouge for a while. I came across The Smokey Pit restaurant on Instagram. I called in and spoke with staff there first, Mr. JB. He let me know about the things on the menu as well as what they can do to ensure the customer was happy. Once I got there, the place was very clean, roomy, very chill type place. I was greeted immediately and served. I had gotten food to go. Once I got to my destination, I must say the food was on point👌 I had chicken, jambalaya, and salad. All good, all seasoned. This the real deal! Stop in at their location on Dallas Drive. You will not be disappointed! Thanks Smokey Pit for Great food and...
