Cafetal — Restaurant in Battle Creek

Horrendous service!! There was no wait, got sat right away, that was the extent of the service we received. The table next to us hadn't got their food when we sat down but the whole table finished their entire meal and we still didn't get acknowledged yet. Watched at least 3 different waitresses walk by without saying anything while they serviced all the tables around us. What appeared to be the owner was walking around filling coffees and looked right at our table and didnt acknowledge us. Probably for the best as we heard one waitress apologizing to her table as their order was wrong and she said she forgot to ring some things in. The other waitress in our section was complaining about stuff to her table. We're probably glad we didnt get service as we left and went a few miles away and had amazing service and food. Save yourself the headache. Probably should have known being that Sunday, during rush times, they weren't half full. They tried thanking us when we walked out, that's how out of touch they are knowing what's going on in their restaurant. I did let them know there wasn't anything to thank us for as we never received any service and they seemed to care. Hopefully they can learn from it and get better as Battle Creek needs all the food options...

The 2x that I've gone to Cafetal with friend's, I've ordered the Veggie Breakfast Bowl n had a green leafy salad on the side. Possibly next time I'll have fruit to see what seasonal fruit is offered. I also have a cup of water with lemon, this is a good palette cleansing. Choice of eggs are also offered with this breakfast bowl, it consists of hashbrowns, greenpeppers, onions, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms n swiss cheese. I ask for mozzarella in place of swiss n have enjoyed my breakfast very very much. I can not say how much per person for our meals but, the food is worth the price. I could only list my meal as the menu is a variety of food item's. This is why I say I'd somewhat recommend for other vegetarians. I know how I try to work around some restaurant's menu's n then there are just some that there are no other options for eating at an establishment. When I arrived at Cafetal at about 8:30 am on 11/14/2024, there was a line at the hostess stand of about 6 people paying their tickets. It was taking forever, and I noticed the waitress kept looking over, and I was thinking why doesn't she just seat me instead of letting me stand there waiting. Soon after, another guy came in behind me, and then a couple came in behind him. The waitress then motioned to the couple that was last in line, like she knew them, and sat them and took their order. By that time I had already been waiting for 5 minutes, and there were still 3 people paying in front of me. I decided to leave because the tone had been set for me at that point the the service was going to suck. I live in the Wattles Park area, so it is drive for me to go there and have decided not to ever go back. I will stick with something closer to home. It's not worth the drive for that...
