Dune Grass Cafe — Restaurant in Bay Head

went there for the first time, after hearing great things about a good breakfast spot in bay head. Sat down and waited for our server for 15 minutes meanwhile the table who sat down 5 minutes after us had drinks and there food order taken. our server finally came to our table after another waiter told her that she had a table and told us that she didn’t know that we were sitting there. She took our order then disappeared for over 35 minutes, ordered 2 omelettes and it definitely doesn’t take that long for them to be prepared. the establishment wasn’t that busy, for it to take as long as it did the table next to us ate and was waiting for their check while we were there before them. I had to ask another server of where our waitress was, she went and got her and she finally had our food. she just set it on the table and just walked away, never came back to check on everything and if we would like anything else. she just dropped the check on the table and walked away too. i’m very disappointed in the service that i was given from this establishment. As a local resident, I have never been to this place and my daughter wanted to take me here for my birthday since we pass it on our way to her private school in Point Beach. Not only did I feel rushed, our server was extremely rude and they were all too busy obsessing over the regulars they were forgetting about our table. She never came around to ask us if we needed anything else and another server brought us our check. When we asked for a box, we were given a piece of tinfoil. I love supporting small businesses, but when I feel I am treated as a third class customer to the point where my 9 year old noticed how extremely unpleasant our server was, makes us unfortunately not want to return & tell others in the area to avoid. Avoid this place at all costs. The service is abysmal and they really make you feel like your presence is unwanted. We had a time constraint as we needed to take the train an hour after arriving. 40 minutes after ordering, it was clear we would not receive our food in time. We asked our server whether it would be possible to take our food to go and get the check. The server promptly disappeared, and we did not see her again. We tried to follow up with another server who told us that the other server was on it and there was nothing she could do - not even print a check. Eventually the check arrived. We paid quickly, they took our money, and told us the food was coming. The food did not come. And we had to leave.
