I used to order from Grubhub all the time and the food is usually delicious, but the last few times I went to eat in, the friendly, hometown atmosphere they advertise was missing. Mostly because of the gentleman who guards the register, I'm guessing he may be a manager or an owner. He hasn't always been pleasant, but our last visit, he was especially rude. When we came in, my bf misheard him when he told us to seat where we wanted. He just glared at him, didn't offer to repeat himself, even when asked what he said. He seemed so agitated with us, but not with any of the others who came in, maybe because we weren't regulars? We were the only table seated for a while, so I understand not having anything to look at, but throughout our time in the restaurant I caught him watching me eat and it was just a really uncomfortable situation. They had recently added the fee for using a card, which no big deal, but upon finding out we were still going to pay with card he scoffed "Do you not have cash?". I guess his attitude is what I maybe should of expected with the sign posted by the register claiming the restaurant to be "politically incorrect". I usually suggest this restaurant as a great place to our guests where I work, but if that is how he treats people who aren't regulars, I'm not sure if I will be suggesting it to new travelers in the area.
On the other hand, the ladies who serve here are great, they are always such a treat and speedy when it comes to getting the food out. They(and the food) are the only reason I would come back to eat in, but I'm not sure if I will be dining in...
Read moreThis is a wonderful restaurant, my husband and I just discovered. It is a 40 mile trip away from our home but well worth the drive. We went around 3:30 pm and it was not crowded so we were seated right away. The menu is extensive so it took us a while to make up our minds. I ordered the beef tips and really they were so tender I barely had to chew them. They were cooked perfectly (med.) and I savored every one of the large portion. I also had the tomato bisque and it was spiced just right. So tasty. My husband had the sea food platter and shared a little with me. I tried a small piece of the catfish and it was lightly breaded and so very flaky. I loved it, but I especially loved the shrimp. It was so good, not overcooked like most places where it is chewy and tough. This was the best I have ever had. He also had asparagus and it was cooked just right with no burned tips. The salad was just so-so kinda standard. I didn't eat the salad. The hush puppies could also have been better. Then the final top it all off....coconut pie to die for. I could have eaten a whole pie. It was that good. Not over stuffed with coconut that you can't taste the cream filling it was just right. I really loved it. The waitress, the cook, and the owner were all very friendly and made you feel like family. It was all together one of the best experiences we have had at a restaurant ever. We will go back, and back, and back again to this...
Read moreI'm really torn on my review. We had dinner on Fathers Day and we told when we went in the kitchen was running behind. Ok, I've been warned and still want to eat there. When it can time to be seated we requested the deck outside. This clearly aggrivated the host seating us. He looked out at the deck and back at us and said it will be awhile. we told him that was fine since we had been warned again that food would be slow coming out. We had time to wait. He just stood there and again reminded us that the kitchen was backed up and it would be awhile for our food. My husband told me "Lets go ahead and sit where he has us". It felt like this gentlemen wanted us in and out as quickly as possible. We pleased our order. Had a great waitress who kept us in drinks. When our food arrived it didn't take as long as anticipated, probably about 30 to 35 minutes. The only thing was, It was barely warm. My baked potato wouldn't melt butter. My steak was lukewarm and a little tough. But had a decent taste. I think if they get the kitchen straightened out it may have been a good meal. The thing that really upset us was the attitude we were...
