China Dragon Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Beaufort

as someone from out of town, we decided to try this place due to reviews online. well, big mistake. we chose to do the buffet. and that's when things went south.

we looked at buffet first to see if there were any items that we eat. (and there were) each of us made a plate. from my plate, I ate half of my egg roll, and tried a bite of crab rangoon, sesame chicken, and the cheese mushrooms. all were old, and not very stomach friendly. I kindly told the waiter he could take my plate, that I didnt like it and wasnt going to eat.

my son ate all of his sesame chicken. which I agreed to pay for.

the rest of our party tried their plates, and 1 ate her plate. they charged full price.

when my sister went up to tell them that so and so didnt eat, they refused to work with us on a price. they said because it's a buffet and you can see the food, so you know what you're taking, (which I do agree to but how was I supposed to know it tasted old or hard just by looking at it? they also said that because we chose said food and wasted it, we still had to pay.

after disagreeing, I just paid anyways. the man at the booth who worked there told us that they do not keep up with the buffet because everyone orders take out. I said well that would have been good to know when...

I tried this place before and was not satisfied and decided to give them a second chance; put it this way I wish I had not the worst food ever chicken was fried to not a drop of moisture potatoes were not completely cooked inside were hard as still raw can be I complained to this little kid that sat people and waited on tables he said something to I guess his mom they left the raw potatoes on the bar. The kid was also in charge of refilling tea glasses, not one time did he refill the glasses. What I like is egg foo young looks good but raw peas this thing they have called gravy is like water and had a green slim look about it. The place looks dirty and I can only imagine how the kitchen looks. On the way out the kid at the register was as bout as bad as the kid waiting on tables that spent all his time on the phone texting she did not even ask how we liked the meal I was ready to unload but why to a kid she was like see ya don't believe you ate that don't come back and now paying for it actually I had the runs for three days. Did not visit at this time, but this is our go too Chinese Restaurant in Beaufort. The owner recognizes us and is always friendly. Food is always great and the selection covers all our favorites😊. Cannot beat the price.11/10/23. Tried to remember last time we ate here and think maybe 4 years ago ...so yeah not sure same people own it. Waited to be told to seat ourselves, had to go ask for silverware. Food options were different, but labels for the items I remember were still up. No hot drop soup 😞 or green beans , only one shrimp choice, mussels seemed kinda bland, only one beef choice, no cheesy seafood casserole , way less vegetables in lo mein and nothing seemed very fresh or hot. Disappointed for sure. Hoping it was just an off night and will be better next time . 09/22/24 Bday visit hoping my favorites would be back . No luck.
