Hands down the absolute worst "BBQ" we've ever had the displeasure to eat. We were in the Beaumont area and decided to try based on reviews. Idk if all the 4 & 5 star reviews are from people who've never had actual BBQ or are Beaumont local and are supporting their local restaurant but this place is NOT BBQ.

We didn't think the drive was that far from I-10 but it was actually farther than anticipated. The restaurant is located in an area where we were glad it was noon on Saturday & not night. We would not have felt safe.

After receiving our orders it was a complete mystery to us that this restaurant has been open for 100 years (!!). The food was horrible. Overcooked, flavorless and instead of BBQ sauce the meat was drowned in some sort of gravy. Real Texas BBQ stands on it's own & doesn't require a sauce; although every BBQ joint has their own version of BBQ sauce. It was the 1st time either of us have ever seen a brown gravy sauce pawned off as BBQ sauce. For reference my dining companion was my Dad & he's in his 70's so we're not 20-somethings just learning to dine without the kiddie menu.

If you want BBQ there is no shortage of places in Texas (and I'm positive in Beaumont) to spend your money on but skip this restaurant esp if you're new to trying TX BBQ - it'll leave you with a bad taste...

I am very disappointed in Patillos. I was a student at LU and ate there during my college years. I would frequent the restaurant after college when passing through Beaumont or visiting old friends. Recently a relative was on their way back to Houston coming from Louisiana passing through Beaumont. Since they knew i liked Beaumont style links they called and asked if they wanted me to pick up a dozen…to make a long story short when they got to houston and I unwrapped the packaging Patillos only gave me 10 links which is 2 short…I’m busy. Two links and Patillos is not at the top of my list of things to do so i ended up calling then 5 days later to let them know that they cheated me. They said i should have called the same day and I actually did but they were closed. It was a Saturday and they close at 6 and since my order had to come from Beaumont to houston I didn’t get it until around 8pm. I spoke to Quincy the manager about the issue and he is the one who told me I should’ve called back the same day but he said he would give the owner my number and he would call me. It’s been two days…I’m still waiting on that call. I will be doing business with Broussard’s or Gerard’s from now on and I suggest you...

BBQ, Ordered BBQ Chicken. Potato Salad, and Green Beans with Half & Half Tea. There’s was good, The chicken was dry over 75%. The potato salad was disappointing. The Green beans - a 5 out of 10.

I have lived home and abroad and have always remember my youth and the favorite food places. Pattillo’s barbecue was always one of them. So was Mr. hotdog, which I mistakenly thought it was Portillo’s also until my big sister finally made me understand the difference today.

I tip the worker. She was nice. But I wouldn’t out of tip this much if I had a taste of the food first. I would have returned it before coming back to Houston but I missed the exit and didn’t want to turn around.

I was starving because I had not had breakfast and food you taste marvelous when you get hungry. Very disappointing. Especially after waiting so many years.

But I remember the Pattillo’s were very...

I have been eating this BBQ for 45 years and Love it. This BBQ is a South East Texas Cajun style. You eat it for what it is and you don't necessarily compare it to what you think it should be. Look at it as though your adding a new taste to your BBQ palette :)! It's unique in that the heavy oak smoked beef is cut very thin and topped with a wonderful light non sweet gravy sauce with hints of chili powder. The links are a Cajun style "Soft link" which is a regional favorite. The links are eaten like Boudain in which you pull the filling. All meats including beef, ribs, chicken and ham will have the heavy smoke and are best eaten with the sauce. The smoked Bourdain is good too! The sides are dirty rice, beens and potato salad. You put this all together at a reasonable price and served by good people in an friendly historic atmosphere and it's great:)!!!

I had very high hopes for this place. I walked up and the smell was fantastic! You walk in and it’s got the old smoke house feel. The pits are in sight and a simple meet filled menu. However, the food was not for me. The best part was their bbq sauce. The beef was like a soup and the link was a soft boudin but not near as good. The rice and beans were very greasy… but that could have been from the beef stew spreading. Unfortunately I would only come back for the sauce then go elsewhere.

The flavor of the links from Beaumont are like no other. I love them so much, I've had family members send them to me across the country. That being said, I'm going to attempt to make them myself from scratch, because these links were incredibly greasy. I had to poke holes to drain what looked like a cup of grease. Aside from the grease factor, they are very flavorful and tasty.
