I loved this place. I ordered the combination which comes with an entree, egg roll, steamed rice, fried rice, or noodles, and choice of beef, chicken, or pork extra side dish. I had the Pepper Steak with fried rice, vegetable egg roll, and sweet and sour chicken side. This combination plate out me $12.95. I thought this was a very fair price for dinner time with so much to offer. The pepper steak was hot and fresh, the rise was fully cooked, but not clumpy. The rice still was fluffy. The portion sizes were more than adequate. The egg roll was also hot and fresh, light and crispy on the outside, and soft and steamy on the I side. It had a well cooked blend of veggies, and the crust was flaky. I thought the egg roll was perfect. They also knocked it out of the park with the small side of sweet and sour chicken. It was fried perfectly and it was fresh unlike some Chinese restaraunts that leave it under a heat lamp this chicken was made to order. The chicken was tender and the breading was crispy, and this was hot and fresh as well. The sweet and sour sauce was good. The service and cleaninliness of the establishment dining area was also great. I took the food to go, but went in and pucked it up and it was still hot by the time I got back to my hotel. I spoke to the owner while I waited for my food and he is focused on customer service. All the way around I would give this five stars. Support a local place that cares about product quality, product presentation, and good service. I am from out of town and I want to go back here when I visit again. I didn't snap a Pic of this meal because I was starving and didn't hesitate to take a picture before eating. Perhaps I will capture a puc on...
Read moreThis place has a great score in Beaumont. The only reason I can think for it is because every other Chinese place in Beaumont is pretty much garbage. They seem to be able to make the food LOOK like good Chinese food, which is why most of their pictures look great online, but the food does NOT taste like good Chinese food. I'll break it down. The Wonton soup was tasteless, most of the flavor came simply from the salt, and the wonton itself was undercooked, and the meat inside did not taste fresh at all. The Broccoli Beef I bought came in a large portion, but ot was incredibly tart and almost bitter, it was very hard to choke down and the meat was very chewy and overcooked. The eggroll that came with the meal only had cabbage in it, nothing else, as though that was the most they were willing to spend on something to add to the meal. I will give them that the fried rice was pretty okay. The pork in it was super chewy, but after I took the meat out, the fried rice itself was enjoyable, but paying more than 15 dollars for meatless fried rice doesn't sit well with me. The atmosphere of the place was really cheap and sort of shady, my wife said that it looked as though someone threw up in the bathroom. So, the reason I give it 2 stars instead of 1 is because you actually get huge portions of the meals, though I felt they were overpriced for the way they tasted. Overall I would NOT give this place my recommendation, even for the average fried rice. It was simply NOT WORTH THE MONEY for food whose only saving quality was that the rice was average after you removed all of the...

Taste of China on College Street is hands down one of the best spots for Chinese food in Southeast Texas. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth, respect, and fast, friendly service. The staff here are not only kind — they genuinely care about their customers, which makes every visit feel personal.
As for the food — it’s incredible. Everything is flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. The crispy duck was perfectly cooked, the fried rice was loaded with tender meat and vegetables, and the sweet and tangy chicken was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Even the egg rolls were golden, crisp, and full of flavor. You can truly taste the pride and heart they put into every dish.
This place is a local gem — affordable, authentic, and consistently delicious. The owner is one of the most respectful and sweet people you’ll ever meet, and it’s clear he pours his soul into this restaurant. We love their food, and we’ll keep coming back again and again.
If you’re in Beaumont and haven’t tried Taste of China yet, you’re seriously missing out. Highly...
