My husband and I have been eating there since they first open for business. The previous staff that worked there (who I assume are the owners) had always been so nice to us. We ordered from them so much that they memorized our orders and names. Sadly, they don't seem to work at this location anymore, and this particular location now seem to be run by younger staffs.
Last month, my husband phone in his order as usual and we were told that the order would be ready in "20 minutes". Well I arrived 20 minutes later, however our order wasn't ready at all. Sure, the place was busy and I understand that, so I paid for the order and proceed to wait. A waitress (short, petite, with Mandala tattoo on her hand) took my payment and told me that my "order will be ready "soon".
Well another 20 minutes went by, and I asked another waitress if my order was almost ready. I guess the first waitress didn't like that I asked, so she cuts in, brings up her index finger and thumb, presses them together, and hisses "I SAID, IT WILL BE READY SOON" and then gives me a long stern look before walking off. So apparently it was rude of me to ask about my order, although it has been 40 minutes at this point.
When my order was finally ready, I watch the first waitress wrap up my order and instead of handing it to me, she walks over to the other end of the cash register table and flatly said (without making eye contact) "Thanks for your patience.", and left my food there.
I figured maybe she's just having a bad day, but then again, I shouldn't have been reprimanded for asking about my order, especially since they didn't give an accurate time of wait.
Needless to say, we won't be coming back, which is a shame because we really loved this place and the original staffs that...
Read moreWe recently moved from SE Portland to the West side & we were looking for a new favorite taco truck (shout out to Tino's Taco Shop in SE Portland for many years of amazing food). A friend suggested we check this place out even though it's a small indoor restaurant. The pastor & carnitas tacos were delicious!! So were the churros ❤️❤️
It's not a fancy place, but it's cute & seems to be pretty busy. We were in a hurry, so we ordered our food to go but then sat down at a table so we could try some before having to go pick up one of the kiddos from school. Almost immediately, someone came over & brought us chips & salsa. Which, by the way, were very tasty. I'm pretty sure they make their chips in-house. Everyone working there was very nice, our food was out quickly & I felt welcomed, though we'd never stepped foot in there until that day. The only thing that would make this little spot perfect.....is if they had a full bar since I don't drink beer.
Updated May 8th, 2024 - Today, we dined in & tried several different tacos. We still love the pastor and carnitas, but we weren't too impressed with the shrimp, fish, or chicken tacos. I didn't care for the asada tacos either because of the texture, but my husband still enjoyed his. We'll definitely be back & next time, we're aiming to try some of the other things on the menu...
Read moreI recently had their carnitas burrito, and it was the best burrito that I have had in my life.
It was so good, my cheeks tingled for close to 10 minutes after. Not due to heat, but due to pure delight!
I live in Oregon, but my family's roots are in the south and southwest (including time in El Paso, Texas). This is the real deal.
Due to my time in El Paso, it can be hard to find what I like up north, but holy MOLY was this a flavor-bomb of a burrito, focusing on intense, deep, rich flavor vs. just heat.
The carnitas were/was tender and rich in flavor, and the rice and beans (don't get me started on their beans, delicious) exploded with slow-cooked flavor.
The portion size, not only of the burrito, but the fillings, was also extremely generous. (Including the carnitas/meat, very generous, but a perfect ratio since they are generous on all fillings.)
We have tried multiple burritos on the menu, all are wonderful. But the carnitas burrito, took it from an A+ to the best burrito I have had in my life.
Super nice staff as well, and a local business.
FYI, I liked the carnitas burrito so well, I was thinking about it 2 days later!
Try it, if you like it half as much as I did, you'll be making yum yum sounds the...
