Neon Newt — Restaurant in Becket

This restaurant is owned and run by a genius. The attention to detail is immaculate and the ingenuity and creativity within this establishment is a once in a lifetime experience. It is truly a global crisis that there are people who will not have a chance to eat at this restaurant within their lifetimes.

Empires fall, cities crumble, but my memory of my dinner at the newt will outlast the inevitable heat death of our solar system. Some day the mixed ashes and molecular dust that will be my remains will cry out, "the Neon Newt is the pillar of human culture." If I had the privilege to create a second Voyager space probe, it would not have a golden disk with humanity's qualities on it, it would have the newt's menu.

Love the idea behind the place. Prices are as high as anywhere in the Berkshires (think Great Barrington, Williamstown). As someone who lives in Becket - this is a treasured place. I wish the evening menu had at least a few options to keep the price of dinner under $70-100. The proteins really deserve bigger plates and sharper knives - while tasty I often think I should bring my own cutlery. If possible draft beer from out neighbours Wandering Star (an owner lives in Becket) and Hot Plate would enhance the local partnerships. And while I love Carlsons cider, Artifact is from Florence MA. I am grateful that Neon Newt revived the iconic general store space, providing the town of Becket (and surrounding hilltowns) with another dining option. I’ve dined here several times—for breakfast and dinner. The fresh menu ingredients are sourced locally. The apple cider rye waffles are absolutely delicious, as well as the breakfast sandwich and Molly Special! The dinner ambiance is special for intimate dining.
