Luxembourg Cafe — Restaurant in Belgium

Honestly I don't really understand the great reviews. Ordered breakfast to go because we were muddy from hiking at Harrington. Sent the other half in to collect food and right away older staff member was beyond grouchy. "WHAT! do you need?"... "I need to pay??"... our food then sat in a bag in sight while she did everything else she didn't need to do at that very second. We would have paid over the phone after ordering but were hung up on the second we ordered.

Decided to eat in the car so it was still hot. No "to go" utensils provided... seriously? Drove over to the neighboring fast food establishment for some forks and napkins because i could not imagine sending my partner back into the snake pit at Lux Cafe for some.

Food; veggie omelette was decent, minus the cheese melted on top in a perfect square. Hash that came with it was bland. Did not taste any seasoning. No ketchup provided. Ordered the potato pancakes (Because I figured this cafe was geared toward delicious German food). Took a few bites and threw them right in the garbage bag. Literally just an extra order of hash browns. Not crispy. No sour cream. No seasoning. Husband ordered the gyro breakfast bowl. He immediately said the same about the hash browns... blah. Toast was not sourdough, and if it was it was the weirdest sourdough we've had. The eggs and gyro meat were fine.

We like to support local businesses but agreed we would not stop here again. I'd keep driving 20 minutes south to PJ piper pancake house in Cedarburg for nicer staff and a better...

UPDATE: March 2025....

We were looking for dinner last Friday night and found the Luxembourg Cafe open for business. They normally are closed for dinner. We spoke to the staff and they said they are open now on Fridays and feature a Fish Fry.

My partner tried the Fish and was very satisfied with the flavor and the size of the portions. The fish was white and flaky and not excessively oily. I had a BBQ Smokehouse burger that was tasty with big slices of smoked bacon. We both had the Chicken Dumpling soup. Mmmm good.

We again highly recommend! Tell your friends.

Excellent cafe with great service and outstanding food. They are just off the highway, which makes them convenient to get to as well. The place is very clean, and the servers are friendly and accommodating by adding or deleting something from the order. For example, I ordered a Veggi omelet without green peppers (not a fan cooked) and wanted American cheese, not cheddar. My omelet was "just right" and the way I wanted it. Well what can I say about this place? For starters it is absolutely Immaculate inside and out, 100% spotless! If this isn't a place that was just recently built and opened. Then they definitely have staff that very much pays attention to detail when they're cleaning! Staff was extremely friendly as well! I ordered the mushroom and Swiss burger, and it was one of the best I've ever had, cooked to absolute perfection! The fries were terrific as well!! Not to mention, the portion size for the price was excellent, the best I've seen in a while!!

When it comes to sit-down restaurants like this one, my standards are fairly High you could say. I do not give five stars lightly, and I don't give it often! With me you have to earn it, that's just the way I've always been.. But in this case my one and only disappointment, is that I do not deliver loads to Wisconsin very often. So I won't be able to come back here again soon.. I WILL absolutely be back next time I pass...
