I visited this restaurant on July 6 around 7:30 PM with five of my other friends in the middle of our trip from the Yellowstone NP to the Glacier NP. We are from Bangladesh, so we know very well about the Indian and South Indian cooking style. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we understood that it was far below the standard of an average cuisine.
They say it is a self-service restaurant. We are okay with that, but what about the floor? It wasn't clean at all and we could feel the bottom our shoes getting glued to the floor! And the Air Conditioning wasn't working! It was really hot outside, and inside was even hotter and humid. I again remind you that we are from Indian subcontinent and we are very aware of the humidity. So we asked about this and the lady told us that the AC isn't working and as it is around the 4th of July, they have shortage of staffs. The way to the restroom is inside and through the kitchen, and the kitchen isn't even close to the standard! One of my friends used the restroom though, she said it was clean. So we sat down and were looking at the menus, meanwhile an Indian family of 8 came inside and they left after a while after watching the condition of the restaurant. Feeling too hot, we went outside and sat on the outside table. We ordered a few items such as Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Biriyani, Lamb items with Garlic Naan and Yellow rice. There wasn't enough cutlery on the counter, and those weren't clean! Even the plates which were served by the lady weren't clean. She exchanged two of them upon request. After 50 minutes of ordering the menu, most of the foods were served. But the Chicken Biriyani never arrived. The gentleman confessed eventually that because of the shortage of cooks, they can't meet the demands of the people at Friday night. Anyway, so we spent more than 70 minutes at the restaurant and took our foods in to-go boxes. One of my friends actually vomited four hours later in the car. I don't want to say that the food was unhygienic, but as an Asian I can ensure that they add too much food color in each of their food items, and the taste is below average. I understand that near Bozeman, there isn't enough Indian restaurants and barely any competition. But if you come from the Washington D.C., New York, or even Utah, you would know that this restaurant is severely lacking the quality and only concentrating on earning profit. I see a lot of 5-star reviews and I request people to properly assess a restaurant in every aspect. May be the restaurant was bad only at that day, but seriously if you can't mop the floor, and your AC isn't working in summer, you should keep it close...
Read moreWORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! COPS INVOLVED. I called in a to go order. When I got home I noticed my food was not what I had ordered and nothing like the pictures showed on their website. I have ordered here in the past and it was good. I called back and spoke with a nice woman who was working the front and explained to her. She informed me I could return the food and they would be happy to give me a refund. When I arrived there a man (who is the cook TIM) came out from the back and instantly started degrading me for bringing the food back which confused me as I was told to bring it back no problem. He made me bring out my phone to show him the pictures and continued to make it a problem after finally receiving my refund and going home I pulled out my receipt to find that he wrote very rude comments about myself. I was already upset from how I was treated by him for bringing the food back I decided to go back and show the manager what he wrote. When arriving I found him outside smoking a cigarette my husband asked if he wrote that to which he replied yes. My husband asked he give me an apology to which he started cussing and acting like he was going to get physical..I called the cops before he laid hands on anyone. The receptionist was even scared of how he was acting and treating her. I have been a waitress myself and been in the food/customer service industry a lot of my career and never witnessed such unprofessional and disrespect by an employee..if that the cook..not even someone in charge very bad representation of the business. I highly highly recommend you do not go here if this man is still employed and cooking your food he clearly has no respect for women or customers! I am really disappointed in how this had to be. When an apology would have fixed this. Hopefully I will be in touch with management as no one was present...

Updated July 2024 I don't enjoy negative reviews. A big reason I don't like them is because oftentimes the reviewer is referencing one single experience (we all know anyone can have a bad night). This is not based off one time. We have eaten at this curry express over 15 times in the past two years. Somehow the service has managed to get worse with every visit. Strange experiences such as music so loud you have to ask the server to turn it down twice so you can talk to your table mates No hello. No welcome in. No greeting. Just a number (2?3?4?) wondering how many guests are in the party throwing menus across the table constantly getting orders wrong missing drinks banging plates / utensils into the bus bins always pressuring to pay and tip in cash returning incorrect change (short)
Hope someone figures out how to train this employee to provide better customer service.
Also, they no longer offer goat. ...... Lunch and dinner menus. Lunch is limited, cheaper, and smaller in portion. Dinner has everything you would want and probably a bunch of things you never even knew about. Incredible murgh changezi. Lamb josh rogan and anything goat will help you appreciate all the great things about this unique cuisine. Classics like murgh makhni (butter chicken) and tikki masala are on point. Wine/beer available. We order the chili shrimp (pictured) and cheese garlic naan for apps every time. The samosas are a pass (dry/little flavor) and their tandoori chicken was also not the best.
