Stopped in Friday June 24, 2016 around 1:00 pm and the place was packed. We were looking for lunch and expected to find a chain place to eat, I'm always looking for the "hole in the wall" experience. This place fit the bill. Apparently it was picked the " Best breaded tenderloin" by the Iowa Pork Producers in 2015. So I bit to see if they were right. Ordered the tenderloin, cheese curds and lemonade. Wife and kids ordered too, but they will have to write their own reviews. The tenderloin was free really tasty, very juicy and seasoned lightly. Good to the mouth with just the right amount of chew. Order it with everything and it's a mouthful. I had a chance to talk with the owner and he was really proud of their breaded delights, he cuts the meat, tenderizes and breads it himself. Being a Chicago boy I caught the "Chicago hot dog" on the menu and couldn't resist, well done Belmond diner! The only thing missing was the poppy seed bun, but try getting those in the middle of "nowhere Iowa" green relish, dill spear, tomato, mustard, seasoning salt and even the pepper was there. I told the owner that the only thing wrong was his all beef dog was to big for the bun, no teenie weenies here! I suggested a smaller dog or a bigger brat bun. The service was excellent, but you would expect that in a small dining room. It's really nice to eat in a place where you can see your food being prepared too. We only make it that way once a year, but we will certainly...
Read moreStopped here for food on our family road trip. This stop was pre-planned as I found it while searching for restaurants on our route. The website was very easy to navigate and had pictures of the food along with prices. So we had our entire order typed up 2 days ahead lol We got our food to go and went to a park nearby cause our kids had a LOT of energy to let out. Our food was great! I meant to get a breaded tenderloin but accidentally ordered the grilled tenderloin. But it was GREAT!! Very juicy! Delicious!! We didn't get any of the condiments with our tenderloins but they were still delicious without them!! My kids got grilled cheese sandwiches, fries, and onion rings. I tried a bite of all their stuff and it was all great! Especially the fries!! I got sweet tea and it was good! I'm always scared ordering sweet tea at places cause it's either not sweet enough or WAY too sweet. Yours was perfect! I messaged their Facebook page the other day(after hours) asking if they were kid friendly expecting a response the next day. I got a response almost instantly which was neat! They said they were very kid friendly!! I was excited to eat inside but my kids needed to run around at a park and eat. I'm very happy with myself for finding your place!! If we ever are in the area again, we will 100% come...
Read moreDon't know if it was the owner or manager but received the worst service ever. Sister wanted to try something new and ordered the cookie dough blitz.... Took one bite it was disgusting so i went back and asked if it was possible to switch it out or get a refund. The nice red head cashier said she had to ask, when she did the manager loudly goes "did she order it? And she didn't like it? That's not my problem". Excuse you ma'am as a manager it is your problem to correct a situation. After a while she did refund the money but made a snarky remark "next time order something you like" before closing the window in my face. They say to support your local businesses but it's difficult to do so when you're met with a horrible attitude. Mind you everything there is nothing to rave over and...
