Papa Pete's Home of the Giant Pancakes — Restaurant in Bennington

Went in with my husband and two kids the waitress looked at us and said ohh you have kids I don’t recommend them eating here it’ll be 45 minutes to an hour wait once you order which we replied it’s okay our two year old had already had breakfast being it was 10 am and our newborn had a bottle already. She then replied are you sure I have kids I know how they are they are going to be hungry in a few minutes we said he just ate.. then she looked at us rolled her eyes and said ok well give me five minutes to clean this table with an attitude (it had one cup on it) and then she went on a rant again how our son would be helping her bust tables that she has kids and knows how they are. Ma’am if you are reading this just because your kids are clearly miss behaved and don’t know how to act doesn’t mean everyone else’s are there are some parents out there who know how to raise well behaved kids. We will never come back because of how unwelcoming that...

We were told it would be a 20 minute wait we could come back or wait for a table. Within 10 minutes we were seated. We placed our orders. My granddaughter got the breakfast sandwich.i ordered their " famous" pancake with 3 eggs and bacon on the side. We then waited over an hour for our food to be served My granddaughter got hers first. Mine came a few moments later Her sandwich was so greasy the bun was soaked in it. I got my bacon first she came back a few minutes later with the eggs. Another five minutes I got the pancake. By now the eggs were cold and also overcooked. I requested over easy which they were not My pancake was also cold...it was hard on the outside and still doughy inside.the bill was 40 dollar's and change. We didn't finish our meal. Stopped here on a very wet Sunday for some brunch with the family while up in Woodford on our annual camping trip up here. The staff and atmosphere felt like home, as I was born in New England and have lived here most of my life. Staff were upfront about an extra wait for food, so we had no surprise there. Food was definitely worth the wait! My eggs Benedict we're seasoned to perfection, and the home fries were easily some of the best I've ever had. The giant pancake was delicious and even fantastic when we reheated our leftovers later on. Kids also loved their food, and appreciated how nice the staff were to them. This is a lovely little family run place, so don't expect a chain restaurant experience and you'll be more than happy with the food and service! My only regret is that we didn't stop here...
