Seriously witnessed a young lady get her monthly friend (have a feminine emergency) and rushed to the bathroom. There were plenty of other employees and no rush, so it was fine that she went. Plus itâs her monthly, being a woman myself: we have no control when that comes. She was in the bathroom less than a few minutes. She was screamed at, in her face, by the owner of this place, and then fired. Because she got her monthly and had to use the restroom. I think the owner tried to make himself look better by saying she was in there for almost an hour, but she wasnât. We all witnessed it! We all seen her in and out within a few. I feel horrible for this young lady. She was screamed at by the older man, and then fired over going to the bathroom. The boss would rather risk health code violation, our FOOD, and safety violations by making a young woman stay on the job while she just got her flow. The wife of the owner then started to attack customers when we were all concerned over what happened to this young woman. It isnât okay at all. I would think that as a woman, we all understand what itâs like to have our monthly friend come unexpectedly. And we all rush to the restroom. Most employers would have sent this young girl home, but she was willing to clean up and then get back on the job. She was quick too. A few minutes in and out. I have never witnessed or heard about something so degrading before. I will not eat here again. If you are trying to apply here, be prepared to hold your bodily functions off for your entire shift, every time. That young lady was beyond kind, respectful, and had GREAT customer service. I feel bad seeing her be screamed at by an older man and then fired for something she had no control over. And it scares me to think that as a general manager of 2 different stores (one resteraunt and one big cooperation) that we are all taught itâs a safety and health hazard to have bodily fluid in the store. Yet he would rather have that then let a young lady use the restroom. Iâve never seen something so appalling. We miss the original owners! Be careful what you eat here- not sure about employees washing their hands since they arenât allowed to use the...
Read moreFirst off, it took about 15 minutes in line just to get to place an order. Then, after I paid for both of ours, my friend said it seemed high. I didn't think much of it, so I asked the cashier to print my receipt (after saying I didn't want it) figuring it should be easy to do since I just ordered. She then said she didn't know how to do it. Then I looked at the slip the restaurant had and the order was wrong. So I was owed a refund. I was told to step to the side and wait.. so I waited for my food and refund. Got my food, not my friends, after waiting way too long for two bagels (not toasted). Did I mention they toasted my bagel? Lovely. My friend got his sandwich and we ate, so I went to get my refund. The cashier handed it over to another woman, who was rude at best. She gave me my money in cash, didn't even ask if she could put it back on my card for me. Then, she proceeded to give me an attitude when I asked for a refund on the bagel (super cinnamon was HORRIBLE, like eating plain dough) and it was toasted anyway when I didn't ask for that. She gave me an attitude "because you got the bagel" but it was horrible. So she gave me my refund for both. The refund didn't match the prices on the menu, but apparently those prices on the menu are higher than what they actually charge you (this confuses me). I wrote into the company to which a woman ("the owner") called me back and was very rude from the beginning "what do you want me to do?" she kept saying. "If it's .50 cents, I'll give it to you" Don't make a customer feel uncomfortable asking for money that is rightfully theirs. I don't get why they believe an attitude like this is acceptable. Also, if your prices are wrong, you switch them. The woman who gave me the refund said 'prices have been the same since I started here 5 years ago" yet she had to ask an older gentleman what the price was. They couldn't just print out my receipt for me and show me that is actually what I paid. With the way I was spoken to by the cashier who gave me the refund AND the owner, I...
Read moreI was inspired to write this review by Ms. Jennifer Incognito, who took the time to so thoughtfully add her experience at Bagelocity about how the staff was rude to her and over charged her.
In my experience, the staff at Bagelocity has been nothing but pleasant, helpful, and friendly. The food is always excellent, and I take personal offense to the remark against super cinnamon bagels. (Really. Is nothing sacred?) On more than one occasion, we have arrived right before closing and they have given us left over bagels free of charge.
I WAS however, at the restaurant the same day as Jennifer Incognito, sitting at the table behind her. I know that it was her because of the absolute idiocy of the exchange - she became ENRAGED when she was overcharged by eleven cents. (Even the friend with her told her, "Jen, you don't need to make such a big deal about it, it's less than fifty cents." They seemed mortified.). Jennifer continued to berate the poor staff, pulling at menus, and screaming about the fact that the prices didn't match what they were charged. To their credit, the staff took this bullshit in stride. The person helping her was very calm and professional, she excused herself to the back; Jennifer houghed out, slamming the door, and leaving her friend to follow out behind her. My boyfriend and I commented on how miserable life must be for poor Jennifer. Eleven. Cents. Get a grip.
So, Bagelocity is delicious and they are exceedingly nice. But beware. Sometimes insane locals will compromise your experience.
