Barrio Burrito Bar has a setup similar to Chipotle, where you order at the counter and choose your protein and toppings as you move down the line. I think this location may be a franchise of a larger business that has several locations across the country, though this is the first one near us. I think it's been open less than two weeks. We went on a weekend evening and it was nice to see the place pretty full.
We both had the spicy chicken, which was very good, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. The regular burrito bowl was a fine size, though smaller in volume than a Chipotle bowl; it came with one scoop of protein. My husband ordered the large bowl, which we expected would include more protein, but it also came with just one scoop. After requesting a bit more, the staff received the okay to add. The bowls are slightly more expensive than Chipotle, and for the extra cost ($2 more than a regular bowl), the large bowl should probably include more protein rather than just extra rice.
Overall, we are happy this spot is in town. The flavors and quality were excellent, and we will return, but perhaps after the staff is a bit...
Read moreStopped by Barrio Burrito Bar and was pleasantly surprised. The space is bright, clean, and modern with a welcoming vibe.
I ordered the veggie bowl and I love that they offer Impossible brand vegan ground meat that is chorizo seasoned. Such a great and flavorful option for vegans or anyone wanting to try something different. The food overall was fresh, tasty, and well balanced, flavorful without being overpowering.
They have small and large bowl options, which is great for portion flexibility. While the guac portion was smaller than what you get at Chipotle and costs extra, everything else came in large portions, so you definitely get great value.
The pineapple salsa was a standout. It was fresh, tangy, and just a little sweet. And the shrimp is fried fresh in the back and brought up hot, which really makes a difference in flavor and texture.
Overall this spot delivers fresh ingredients, generous portions, and vegan friendly choices. The friendly staff, flavorful food, and clean space make it an easy five stars...
Read moreFist time here. Started in line. Asked to try a piece of the steak not knowing the flavor. Instead of putting a piece in a cup or on a stick to try the lady put her hand in the steak and pulled out a piece with her fingers for me to try. Granted she had gloves on but who knows where those hands have been, touched. I then asked for steak. She asked if I wanted beans and I said sure just a little. She proceeds to put two full scoops, way too much. She sort of rushed me through the line. As for the food, and I was hungry so I didn’t need much to impress me. The flavors were bland the steak had at least half that was not edible hard and chewy. I wouldn’t drive out of your way to eat here. Too bad, I was looking for alternatives to the usual like chipotle but...
