El Rancho Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Bertram

We have been regulars for almost 10 years at the location here in Bertram. We went in today for Mother’s day and the servers had not mentioned that there would be no rice. When the food was brought out, they stated that they did not have any rice. During the middle of our meal, we realized that every other group had rice being brought out with their plate, they even asked if a lady wanted extra rice?? They never once asked if they could bring us some rice or even checked on us after bringing out the food. When we went to pay we had mentioned the miscommunication and the lady responded with “yeah” and didn’t have any words after that. It was rather disappointing that she honestly just didn’t care and didn’t think it was her problem, even after she had brought out the food. I hope this establishment can learn some bare minimum customer service. We are upset that after this long we can’t...

El rancho is an authentic mexican restaurant. I pretty much stop by this place either for breakfast or lunch whenever I head to Bertram. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants around town. The food is always great and plentiful. Prices are very low for what you get. Their breakfast tacos are my favorite things to get. I can get nine breakfast tacos for around 12 dollars and they are stuffed. Their daily specials are always something I end up getting for lunch or dinner. They also have one of my favorite hot sauces. This avocado salsa which is very spicy and has great flavor to put on many of their dishes. The wait staff and cashiers are very friendly and fast. I really like the decor of the place. Reminds of some restaurants I've been to along the border. If you are in the mood for real Mexican food this place will bit the spot. No frills place just good old authentic food....

Clean and well priced, so why the 2 stars (disliked it)? I ordered the #73, which is the quesadilla with steak or chicken, but got #75. When I asked for the sour cream & guacamole that I specifically remembered it came with, one of the servers argued with me that I ordered 75 (even though it wasn't the server who took my order!). They did take it back and redid my order correctly, but (a) it was way too salty for my taste, (b) my dinner companion was almost finished when it did arrive, plus (c) they argued with me even when, during the ordering process the server asked if I wanted chicken or steak (which wasn't a choice with #75). Aside from an apology at the register, no price cut was offered. That's just really bad customer service. Cheap doesn't mean good or a reason...
