Has anyone made it over to Enzo Benzo Specialty Donuts in Eliot, ME? If not, drop everything and go—trust me, your taste buds will thank you.
I think I walked into actual heaven today. I was surrounded by Italian sweets, gelato, focaccia, pizza, and stromboli... and immediately frozen with indecision. Sweet? Savory? Sweet and savory?? My brain short-circuited. 😂
Naturally, I went with both.
For the savory: a stromboli special that dreams are made of—pillowy dough wrapped around savory ham, served with a side of creamy ricotta and topped with a drizzle of balsamic glaze. I mean...come on.
For the sweet treat: a blueberry donut with lavender. Lightly sweet and beautifully fragrant, it was almost too pretty to eat...almost!
I also grabbed a cold brew to keep me grounded (because I was basically levitating from joy at this point).
Full disclosure: I had every intention of bringing the food home to share. That was the plan. But then...I took a little bite of the stromboli...and the next thing I knew, it was gone. Vanished. Just me and a very happy stomach. 😋
The cherry on top? The staff! So kind, welcoming, and patient with my wildly indecisive self. They walked me through all the options and made the whole experience even better.
Bottom line: I’ll definitely be back. Too many goodies, too...

The two owners (I'm assuming owners) were running things and we're awesome even with it being a bit packed. They were working very hard to greet each person and make sure they felt welcomed and noticed which was awesome to see.
I got an absolutely amazing sandwich, mortadella with pesto and Italian meats and fresh crispy veggies I want to say, but could be missing/misremembering ingredients. Absolutely divine. In some banter between the owners I believe the husband makes them and he absolutely nails it.
I also had an order of their rice balls and a slice of lemon cake. All of it was absolutely excellent and I will be back because life without those sandwiches just isn't worth it.
Also, I didn't try the donuts. Another reason I...
Read moreI have been waiting for a good classic Italian bakery in the Seacoast for years and Enzo benzo perfectly fits the bill. Their focaccia is chewy and flavorful with just the right amount of olive oil and spice. The roast beef sandwich is perfection. I’ve actually never had a better one. For extra touches, you can get classic pastries, breakfast sandwiches with capricola and even a great coffee— Espresso or drip, and hand made chips. If I still lived next-door, I would be here every day. The ambience is adorable and would be great for a coffee with a friend or a work meeting. I’m so happy for a vacant storefront to be blossoming into such a wonderful community space with great food! Go...
