Beautiful garden, a river view from the restaurant, we sat down the menu was small but had a little bit of everything, now this was 5:30pm on a Sunday an they were out of half the menu after choosing my third appetizer since the first two they didn't have I ordered the lentil "soup" an my third entree of pasta with scallops an a garlic cream sauce, the "soup" came out an let's just say it was more of a lentil paste the flavor was amazing just really thick an I was unable to eat it. My husband got the Atlantic salmon an couscous the salmon came out raw the first time so he sent it back an had it cooked more an he liked the flavors just the couscous was dry my pasta came out dry so I asked for a side of sauce the waitress seemed very upset an had never asked us if we wanted another drink the whole time so we just drank water that was on the table. The bill came, and we got charged for the so-called soup, and no manager came over to apologize for any of the raw food.the charcuterie was beautiful but again dry seems like everything was left uncovered or left out we will not be returning.

My fiancé and I stayed at the Mount Washington Hotel, but I honestly think the food is very subpar for a purported 4-star hotel. I found this lovely spot searching Google, and we both were very pleasantly surprised upon our arrival. We were the only customers for the first part of our time there, sat in a very lovely, homey dining area overlooking a stunning river with gorgeous late afternoon sunlight trickling in. Our waitress was great, attentive and the food we had was plated so nicely and tasted delicious. I made a mental note about the fact there are rooms to stay in on-site because I think The Wayside Inn, by far, trumps Mount Washington Hotel in every respect!

Very nice experience overall, will be returning. This is unusual, we almost never return to most places around here because there's almost always some kind of deal breaker, usually food-related. Not here.

Under new ownership for around a year, and I'm very encouraged by the food we had. Fresh ingredients, prepared with care, flavored well without overshadowing the main elements, sensible portion sizes, food was piping hot when it was served, etc. I can't tell you how refreshing it is to go somewhere that isn't making the obvious and unnecessary mistakes that get made nearly everywhere else up in the North Country. Not only is the food good, the value is superb.

Location: I love it. Sure, it may not have been updated recently, but it has real character. It's very cozy, quiet, the lighting is perfect, music is just audible not overbearing, and the view of the river is just gorgeous and unspoiled by road noise, a very rare treat.

Service: excellent. Friendly, genuine, and...

This place is AWESOME! Exactly what the area needs. Honestly if you're giving this place under 5 stars I'd say that's on you not the restaurant or Inn. What are you expecting here? What we were expecting is a nice, friendly,, yummy dinner at a quant B&B/Inn and that is exactly what we got. Fantastic service, great food, a fun menu, cheap drinks, very affordable. It is an old Inn and restaurant being revamped by a really cool hard working person who really cares about customer service and being an institution in the community. What more are you looking for in the middle of nowhere New Hampshire!??!?! I highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay or a place to grab some breakfast, dinner or just a drink. Fun little spot. Everything you come to New Hampshire for...
