Cambo Flare — Restaurant in Big Lake

1/25/2024 Update Glad to see my review has helped so many find this spot. Mrs. brought up Cambo after I got home from work and couldn't pass up that thought. 2 years later, still coming back, still 5 stars.

If you're new to the area let me help you. You're going to do what others have done. Put an order for 3 entrees and 2 egg rolls and go dang, 60 bucks after taxes and a 20% tip and cancel. Big mistake. You'll tell yourself to save money you'll go to that festering spot next to the grocery store. It's cheaper, and cheaper yet is making it yourself and the quality will be better. Maybe you'll convince yourself to go across the river into Monti, don't. Make it yourself.

Or, better yet, go here. Get two egg rolls. You'll say that's smaller then X. Yeah. It packs a punch of overall flavor that will make you question what are they selling you at those other places. Mass produced stuff you can duplicate in your air fryer. When you bite into that egg roll you'll see what they are doing and what quality asian food tastes like. You'll tell whoever is working the counter that this tiny bit of rolled joy is amazing. Then a guy will appear and thank you. He will truly treat you like a friend and (sorry if I put you in a bind bro) have you try something he's working on (if it's blueberry season come here and find out). Because that's the kind of person he is. Ever ask yourself what a place was like before that spikey haired blonde guy screwed it up... This is that place This place is so AMAZING! Tonight was my half dozenth time and I never really write reviews but this place deserves it hands down every time! I have ventured around their menu and have yet to have anything less than a 5 star meal. The drinks here are amazing on their own, but get something to eat too.

My husband and I live in Monticello but had never heard of this place. We went for lunch today and brought our food back to the house. I'm not a real lover of Chinese food, but I fell in love with what I ate! We ordered Chicken Lo Mein, Chicken fried rice, red cabbage egg rolls, and Wontons. Oh my gosh, it was so much and so delicious we are having the leftovers over for dinner! In fact I'm contemplating sneaking over there tomorrow and trying a different Entree and a double order of Wontons for our dinner. Whatever sauce they use is the best I've ever had. Hands down this is the best Chinese I have ever eaten and I'm 69! Even though it's take out only, it's worth it. Plus they have points you can accru to apply to the price of your order. I saw the person ahead of me use her phone and received a huge discount. I had the young man taking our order to help me put it on my phone and received the points right away. He was so funny and out going and was kind to a Grandma who needed help downloading. I only hope more people discover this gem, so they can use the chairs and tables they have there for inside dining. Apparently they don't have enough employees to cover dine in customers. We started with two entrees, a sort of beef kabob and rice, which was excellent. We loved it and were extremely satisfied and yet...wanted more. So we continued on to the purple eggrolls that were just the right kind of spicey and then moved on to the fresh wontons. We also ordered park tacos with orange segments that were freakishly delicious. It seemed like everything we ordered, even things that we thought would just be standard fare, were beyond flavorful. Seriously it’s the best Asian food I’ve ever had. One more thing. When we got the bill, in my head, I was anticipating a certain price based on the high quality of the food but our guest check was much lower than I would’ve imagined. I promise no one is paying us for this review but for taste and overall value we were extremely pleased. We would have no problem recommending this restaurant to anybody. Friends of ours had suggested Cambo flare several weeks ago. I’m sorry I waited so long. We will be back. Just one suggestion to the owners: put signage on the side of the building closest to Highway 10. We don’t want you to be the best kept secret in town. We want you to be successful and stay...
