I have been going here for years! But, this trip was terrible. I almost always get a pizza to go. Since I live 5 minutes away it works well for me and the fam. I ordered by phone a large pie. Told it would be 15 to 20vminutes. I left the house 5 minutes after calling and was there by 5 minutes more. 10 minutes total. To my surprise the pizza was ready.... hmmmm. Anyway, got it home. Opened it up and could only scratch my head. The pizza was cold, very very very dry, and the toppings shriveled to mere specks. I have eaten pizza from thousands of pizzerias from Milan to Naples, to 10 or 12 states, And other countries. Believe me when I tell you.... this was a pie already made at some point during the day. Probably lunch time. And put in the case. It was so dry and emaciated. The dough was also dried out. And I am sure as sure can be that this was reheated in the oven. So my 25 bucks got me the worst Sals experience ever. I been going to Sals going on 20 years. And I say to Sal and his team.... "Not good to be doing this type of thing". Not sure I wanna go back! Even my kids said it was "gross" ! " What happened to Sals?" Extremely...
Read moreI've been disappointed with Sals in Billerica before but I want to like it because it's so close to me. I loved Sals when they first opened but after the remodel the food is awful. Tonight I tried again.. I ordered a veggie pizza. I brought it home without looking at it. It was literally dough and a bunch of veggies on top of it. No sauce no cheese. Burnt crust burnt spinach. I called and the woman at the front said I'll let you talk to the manager. The manager ( who was also the cook) said he had only been working there less than 2 weeks and had never made a veggie before. He didn't realize it needed sauce and cheese. He offered to make me another one. When I drove back I returned the first pizza and asked the young girl at the counter if the cook was really her manager. She said I really don't know what he is. I have no idea. The new pizza had very light sauce light cheese on the bottom and burnt vegetables and crust. I brought it home and my husband had left for milanos to get a veggie pizza. Sals in Billerica still is...
Read moreEvery year that I come back to Billerica I always go to Sal's 2 or 3 times during my visit. Unfortunately tonight's visit will be the last. The only people in the place was a group that were finishing up eating. While we were waiting 35 minutes for a "large" cheese pizza (I'll get back to the size in a moment), the employee was having a very unprofessional conversation with another employee. As other people were coming in we still were waiting. Finally we got our pizza. When we got home and opened it up it was at most a medium size. There was so much sauce on it we ended up throwing it away. The sloppiness of the employees with their unprofessionalism, inability to make a great Sal's quality pizza, and giving us the wrong size order, will make it my last time to ever purchase anything from...
