I don't give many 5 stars. But The Filling Station will be the exception. My date and I decided to stop here one fine Sunday afternoon after finding out that they had finally opened. I had passed by for months as they were working on the place and made a mental note to try them out when opening day arrived.
The setup used to be an old gas station/mechanic shop. The owners have turned it into a restaurant yet they kept some remnants of the gas station in the mix. Seating inside is limited, and it looks like there may be more seating outside than in. There were heaters outside, but we chose inside since it was still a little too nippy for us to sit outside. Our waiter (who was great by the way) came promptly after we were seated to take our drink orders. He also recommended some beverages as well.
We decided on the Sicilian pizza and a side of fries. The fries were lightly salted with sea salt and crisp to the bite. The Sicilian pizza was a meat lovers dream come true and a calorie-counters nightmare. The cheese was gooey just like you would imagine mozzarella to be and the toppings were plentiful. The crust was even yummy as well.
For dessert we tried the homemade brownie. Delicious, moist and warmed brownie covered in vanilla ice cream, drizzled with caramel and chocolate syrup and topped with crunchy pecans. Is your mouth-watering yet? It should be. The dessert topped off a pleasant dining experience.
For the win-The bill came to around $26. For all we bought, that wasn't a bad total at all. From good service, to delicious food, to superb location (if you live on the East side of town), you can't go wrong with The Filling Station. Check them out. I think...
Read moreWent here today for the first time to have lunch. Sat inside. Wasnât very busy. The flys were terrible. I know thatâs not the restaurants fault-but eww. It was nasty and we had to keep swatting them away the whole time we sat there. Not sure who our waitress was, she never introduced herself. She was not very nice, pretty matter-of-fact and straight to the point. Took our order. I had the chicken Parmesan sandwich and my husband had the buffalo chicken sandwich. The chicken had a really weird texture in my sandwich and Iâm not really sure what parts of the chicken I had because it fell apart and was really messy. It also had a mushy texture to the breading on it and the sauce had already made the ciabatta bun very soggy by the time it came to the table. The sauce had no spice and it wasnât really warm. I took one bite and then tried to break the sandwich apart to see if maybe there was a better place to take a bite-there wasnât and I lost my appetite and didnât eat anymore. I had pasta salad with it which was OK-very bland, but more edible than the sandwich. My husband said his sandwich was ok, not great, but he did eat it. Told me that if he wasnât already so hungry, he wouldâve probably not eaten much of it. Waitress came back one time to ask us how we were, we asked for more tea and lemonade. She came back and set the cups on the table and turned around and walked away. Came back a few minutes later with the check and took our plates. She really never spoke much, didnât really smile or make contact. Whatever. Really disappointed and wonât go back. Not sure what the big deal is...
Read moreMy husband and I took our nephews and my sister (16,16,&13) because they rarely get out and try new things. They are picky eaters! We figured pizza was a safe option. We ordered wings as an appetizer 1/2 traditional and 1/2 BBQ, they were very good. My sister tried hot wings for the first time and didn't die :) We ordered two 12" pizzas. The first was all bacon and pepperoni and the second was 1/2 bacon & pep and 1/2 ham and pineapple. We did not wait long for our food and it was hot when it got to us. The pizza was incredible. My nephews were amazed that cheese like you see on commercials that pulls apart so thick really existed. My oldest nephew and the most picky of the bunch said it was the best pizza he had ever eaten, which is huge coming from him. The only issued we encountered was the patrons at the bar at the time. This in no way reflects on the restaurant, but two individuals got a little rowdy and began throwing around lots of f bombs and language we don't use in our family right in front of the kids.(this was around 2:00 in the afternoon) I did not like this at all. I realize the restaurant has a bar and serves alcohol, but that is not the environment I was expecting when deciding to take three teenagers to the establishment. All in all, it was a great experience with good food and we would go back again. We also got out with a bill under $50 (2 soft drinks, 3 waters, wings appetizer, and two 12"pizzas) with 5 people completely full, which is awesome considering what you could spend on delivery...
