The Taqueria Tafoya — Restaurant in Birmingham

Best authentic Mexican food I've ever eaten. I have been kind of obsessed with finding these small, out-of-the-way, inexpensive taco places after accidentally discovering a really good one in Louisville Kentucky . This one was even better.

Grilled tacos , delicious shrimp tostada and pork tamale for us. One unique aspect of this restaurant compared to others, is that they bring out fresh chopped cilantro, onions, pickled onions, limes, fresh cucumber slices and an avocado sauce. They also have very good red and green sauces, along with sour cream in 3 squeeze dispensers. This allows you to get as much of the good stuff as you like , the way you want it, at the table. Honestly, I'm kind of spoiled by this now. You can really work in the hotter sauces if you know how ample sour cream is an option. The cooling effect of the sliced cucumbers and pickled onions has similar benefit.

We went for a late lunch, . So, I can't really comment on typical crowd etc., but the price was great. A lot of food for under $25 . I would give anything to have a place like this within driving distance of our home , instead of an hour away.

First time trying and everything was on point. Hot and fresh and authentic best tacos I've had in Birmingham and coming from Houston after living there 10 years I love tacos and not just on Tuesday but everyday and this place is great no gimmicks just good food and the people working there are very nice the owners son always has a smile on his face and friendly as is everyone else there. I will definitely be back again I've already been 2 times in 2 days and might be back tomorrow if time permits. Unfortunately these guys aren't on Doordash or Uber eats because the owner doesn't want to do it but he should at least give it a try because the food is good but everybody isn't able to get to the restaurant to come try the...

I was impressed immediately upon entering Taqueria Tagoya by the large open dining area and healthfully thoughtful spacing of tables. It wasn’t very much decorated in the dining room but the smiling efficient and effective and friendly service was all in all fantastic and the food was not only frigging delicious it was not expensive especially considering the size and quality being so hot freshly made high quality and authentic .
