ā˜…ā˜†ā˜†ā˜†ā˜† DO NOT host a special occasion here.

We hosted a reception at The Huckleberry House—one of the most meaningful events in our family’s life—and were incredibly disappointed by the complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service. Despite being promised a reduced brunch menu and staffed service for our party of 30, we were met with disinterest, disorganization, and what felt like outright neglect.

Only one server was assigned to our entire group. It took over an hour just to take drink orders, and we were not given any menus for food or beverages. When we asked about the modified menu that had been confirmed by the owner, a staff member replied, ā€œIs that something you expected us to provide?ā€

While our guests sat waiting, the only server was seen scrolling on her phone and said she wouldn’t take food orders until all the drinks were made and served—an inefficient approach that left guests waiting well over 90 minutes for food. Meanwhile, several other staff members were visibly idle, also on their phones, rather than helping.

We felt trapped in an embarrassing situation, unable to ensure even a baseline level of hospitality for our guests. When we asked Kayla for help using the regular menus, she said, ā€œI guess that’s a good idea, but I wish that were my department,ā€ offering no real assistance. Some of our guests ended up going downstairs to order food and drinks themselves because they were never approached by the server.

We regret choosing this venue. It was clear early on that the staff was not only unprepared, but uninterested, making an already stressful event far more difficult. For a restaurant that promotes itself as an event venue, this was a...

3 of us went there yesterday. All 3 of us were Extremely disappointed. We got there right at 4:00. If you want Awesome service you must be there at that time. My husband has to have gluten free diet. So he ordered the beef short ribs… 15 minutes later the waiter tells us they have no ribs. So we go to plan B. Ordered the white Buffalo $ 15.00 comes two griddled beefpatties, blue cheese, roasted onions, white bbq sauce, arugula on a toasted potato roll served with choice of fries or tater tots. We asked for a gluten free bun and no arugula…He got his salad and no burger. So we asked when he would be getting his burger. Shea said I thought you just wanted a salad. So, we reminded him of what we ordered. It came 1 pattie on a bun ( not sure it was gluten free ) and arugula nothing else. ( They crossed contaminated his burger with Arugula ) They substituted the HH salad for an up charge for not taking fries or tater tots. $ 14.00 my friend and I had the cheese buttons $ 18.00 x 2 = $36.00. She got 8 and I got 5. They were good but ice cold. It probably cost them $1.00 to make them . We were all still hungry ordered dessert. 1- kuchen $9.00 1- carrot cake $9.00, 1- flourless fudge cookie sandwich $ 7.00 ( yummy ) We drank lemon water . $97.00 later not priceless. Our friend left a $20.00 tip. Won’t be back. Waiter Shea L didn’t listen what we ordered special do to gluten free diet/sensitivity to Arugula. Way over priced menus and very little menu to choose from. Not a friendly restaurant.the Manager never checked on us. But did check on all the tables around us. The view of the river boat and water was relaxing . Again do not waste your time or money...

There was a group of 4 adults and 2 kids for dinner. Had reservations and were seated right away. Waitress dropped off the menus and left for other tables. Few minutes later took our drink order. When it came time to order dinner, there was a number of selections that were unavailable, which we weren’t aware of until we tried to order it. I was curious about the walleye and how it was crusted, had to ask 3 times to get a straight answer. Lucky I had researched prior to arriving so had a hunch. Our group ordered salads, chicken schnitzel, buffalo burger, smoked salmon rilletts and the grilled beef . When the beef was asked to be done medium, was told ā€œthat’s how they are doneā€. The chicken was overdone and over breaded, the salads were served in bowls right out of the dishwasher, so they were hot, and the smoked salmon was underwhelming and over priced. After the meal we found out that they had kids menus, would have been nice to be offered them in the beginning, kind of obvious with 2 kids at the table. Asked about desert, nope out of that too, ā€œbeen...

Our meal was absolutely amazing! Started with the Chai Flip as my adult beverage and we shared the Kottbullar and the Roasted Onion Fleischkuekle. Both were fantastic. For entrees, my husband had the Schweinebratten and I had the Buttermilk Chicken Schnitzel. The flavors were amazing and the melted butterkase on the chicken was unexpected and the perfect finishing touch. I can’t say enough good things about the meal, the service and the atmosphere. We are on our way home from a vacation out west and this was by far the best meal of our two week adventure. Unfortunately, we live out of state, and just had this one night in Bismarck. If we find ourselves this way again, we will absolutely make this a stop. It was that good!! Amy and Mark, Cedar Rapids, IA

Visited the Huckleberry House this evening. A delightful experience with the food and service! The scenery was beautiful! We had a wonderful server named Patrick who was polite, efficient and a credit to young people who are working in the restaurant industry. I tried the Huckleberry drink (very good!) Patrick patiently explained the Norwegian menu to us, and suggested I try the walleye, IT WAS DELICIOUS!! Definitely want to return to try another of their signature drinks and try new menu items to be added in the future. I guarantee a trip to The Huckleberry House will not disappoint!!

We were in town for meetings and decided to dine here for dinner. Arrived around 6:10pm to a restaurant that was barely at half capacity and had a 30-35 minute wait. We saw a group was upstairs so we assumed they had waitstaff issues in the restaurant. Once we were seated, service flowed quickly and smoothly. Food was EXCELLENT! They definitely need more servers and a bartender to help improve the wait time. They were also out of several drink and food items and hadn’t updated the menu. With all that being said, would we eat here again? YES!!!!!!!!
