★☆☆☆☆ DO NOT host a special occasion here.
We hosted a reception at The Huckleberry House—one of the most meaningful events in our family’s life—and were incredibly disappointed by the complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service. Despite being promised a reduced brunch menu and staffed service for our party of 30, we were met with disinterest, disorganization, and what felt like outright neglect.
Only one server was assigned to our entire group. It took over an hour just to take drink orders, and we were not given any menus for food or beverages. When we asked about the modified menu that had been confirmed by the owner, a staff member replied, “Is that something you expected us to provide?”
While our guests sat waiting, the only server was seen scrolling on her phone and said she wouldn’t take food orders until all the drinks were made and served—an inefficient approach that left guests waiting well over 90 minutes for food. Meanwhile, several other staff members were visibly idle, also on their phones, rather than helping.
We felt trapped in an embarrassing situation, unable to ensure even a baseline level of hospitality for our guests. When we asked Kayla for help using the regular menus, she said, “I guess that’s a good idea, but I wish that were my department,” offering no real assistance. Some of our guests ended up going downstairs to order food and drinks themselves because they were never approached by the server.
We regret choosing this venue. It was clear early on that the staff was not only unprepared, but uninterested, making an already stressful event far more difficult. For a restaurant that promotes itself as an event venue, this was a...
Read more3 of us went there yesterday. All 3 of us were Extremely disappointed. We got there right at 4:00. If you want Awesome service you must be there at that time. My husband has to have gluten free diet. So he ordered the beef short ribs… 15 minutes later the waiter tells us they have no ribs. So we go to plan B. Ordered the white Buffalo $ 15.00 comes two griddled beefpatties, blue cheese, roasted onions, white bbq sauce, arugula on a toasted potato roll served with choice of fries or tater tots. We asked for a gluten free bun and no arugula…He got his salad and no burger. So we asked when he would be getting his burger. Shea said I thought you just wanted a salad. So, we reminded him of what we ordered. It came 1 pattie on a bun ( not sure it was gluten free ) and arugula nothing else. ( They crossed contaminated his burger with Arugula ) They substituted the HH salad for an up charge for not taking fries or tater tots. $ 14.00 my friend and I had the cheese buttons $ 18.00 x 2 = $36.00. She got 8 and I got 5. They were good but ice cold. It probably cost them $1.00 to make them . We were all still hungry ordered dessert. 1- kuchen $9.00 1- carrot cake $9.00, 1- flourless fudge cookie sandwich $ 7.00 ( yummy ) We drank lemon water . $97.00 later not priceless. Our friend left a $20.00 tip. Won’t be back. Waiter Shea L didn’t listen what we ordered special do to gluten free diet/sensitivity to Arugula. Way over priced menus and very little menu to choose from. Not a friendly restaurant.the Manager never checked on us. But did check on all the tables around us. The view of the river boat and water was relaxing . Again do not waste your time or money...
Read moreThere was a group of 4 adults and 2 kids for dinner. Had reservations and were seated right away. Waitress dropped off the menus and left for other tables. Few minutes later took our drink order. When it came time to order dinner, there was a number of selections that were unavailable, which we weren’t aware of until we tried to order it. I was curious about the walleye and how it was crusted, had to ask 3 times to get a straight answer. Lucky I had researched prior to arriving so had a hunch. Our group ordered salads, chicken schnitzel, buffalo burger, smoked salmon rilletts and the grilled beef . When the beef was asked to be done medium, was told “that’s how they are done”. The chicken was overdone and over breaded, the salads were served in bowls right out of the dishwasher, so they were hot, and the smoked salmon was underwhelming and over priced. After the meal we found out that they had kids menus, would have been nice to be offered them in the beginning, kind of obvious with 2 kids at the table. Asked about desert, nope out of that too, “been...
