El Mariachi — Restaurant in Blacksburg

So, I have visited this restaurant twice in the past two months, and both times the service was very polite and friendly. Unfortunately, the food did not sit well with me after either visit. The first time I just thought it was me. I figured maybe it was a snack after dinner that messed up my stomach. Welp, after last night's visit once again my gut was left churning all through the night. I am not sure why, but for some reason my body doesn't get along with the food they offer. And I am not known to have acid reflux or anything of the sort. Now, that said, the food tasted just fine, and I am in no wise trying to deter folk from stopping in. Like I said, the folk are super nice, and the dishes I had were good. My only other challenge with this establishment is the pricing. As a single guy I shouldn't be spending more than $15 for a few tacos and a quesadilla, but the total is $18. That's just a wee bit pricey for...

Never have I been to a Mexican restaurant where the staff was so tired of people. This Virginia location is barely a tenth of the quality of other locations in Florida, maybe cause folks there have other Spanish options and know they can get better food and service elsewhere.

Food didn't come out as described, tried the quesadilla rellena and looked nothing like the picture or description. It came out like a fried fajita taco hybrid. The carnitas dinner, also not as advertised. A couple ordered a chili relleno, and missed the mark.

I went to eat here today because my grandmother likes to eat there. The server's didn't seem very happy & the food was okay. The kids had a lunch special number 18 with shrimp it was really good. I ordered the enchiladas Supreme and the beef one tasted weird. I asked for a side of salsa verde and I could tell that it was not house-made, that it came from canned brand. The rice had some hard pieces in it that seemed like it wasn't cooked good enough or it was left over from lunch time.
